Cool. I went walking into the REI over in Maple Grove the other night, and as I was about to walkin the door I noticed a benchmark marker. I thought cool, I will have to see if I can log this one. So, as I am standing right in front of the front doors, staring at the ground. I realized it was not a real benchmark... DOH.. Just REI's "benchmark"... Oh well, back to work or back to caching... _________________ round n' round we go! |

After losing a benchmark in the mail from this site (#42 of all things)
http://benchmark.gps-fun.com/
I decided to order my own from a survey company. Costs around 50 bucks to have one made with any of your own text on it. When I get my own place I plan to set it.
Ran across another interesting site while looking the other one up.

The "Extreme Benchmarking" site, heh. |

COOL!!
I actually purchased a "blank" benchmark, stamped it myself, and then made it into a geocache, have a look here: GCYHK2
Blanks can be purchase from Berntson International.
You can also purchase custom or gift benchmarks from Mountain Summit Benchmarks
Regarding the "Extreme Benchmarking" site. I've tried to complete the California set but the oldest benchmark is on a military base. So far, the highest, Mt. Whitney was the easiest! [/url] |
