| King Boreas carpetbombed the entire area with caches |
That was for Winter Cache Bash and Geo 101
We got Diggin'4_it and Buzzygirl because of those caches. Well maybe, with the help of them |

| It's been too long since I've hunted for the WC medallion. I'd like to go out with a group of geocachers this year-- if you're planning on attending, let me know! |

hehe, I guess medallion hunting isn't actually attending
I pretty much figure those 2 weeks (and probably the begining of January) are hunting time |

| The 31 caches are prepared. The first few locations are selected. The hiding will soon begin. As in the first "series" a cache will be hidden, for each day in January. That would be Boreas Rex XXXII to Boreas Rex LXII. None of them will be subscriber-only. The container is the same for all. Due to the (in)frequency of caches being approved, don't expect a new one listed each day. Good luck, and have fun. |

It may not be well-known, but local geocacher JCBoys has a wonderful website with tons of info concerning the Winter Carnival. He has just released a new book that is getting rave reviews. |

Opening weekend:
No Time For Cold Feet, a documentary about the Medallion Hunt, will premiere at Bell Auditorium/Theater in Minneapolis on Saturday. Showtimes are 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm
The annual Pre-Hunt Get Sauced Event (usage-fees will be submitted) at McGovern's Pub in Saint Paul will be that evening. This is a very welcoming crowd (ask Kitch), and anyone with the slightest interest in the Medallion Hunt is invited and encouraged to attend.
I will post my reviews of the movie, the event, and the first clue on Sunday.
EARLY GUESS: outside Saint Paul
Long Lake Regional Park, Central Park (Roseville) |

After walking through most of Central Park last week, that was my top choice for the Medallion pool.
27 (!) people paid $5.00 each, in a lottery type chance to pick a park. Since Central had already been picked, I chose Long Lake.
I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, and will return next weekend. There's a lot of humor in it, which I guess I wasn't really expecting.
Each year at the Pre-Dig Gig, our annual pre-hunt celebration, the crowd size increases. I'll guess 150, but I'd like to hear what Kitch. KC0GRN, and mucluck think. |
