Hmm, That's odd, since that contradicts the documentation on Dan's site, the commentary in the national forums and what Dan told me when I had occasion to exchange some email with him a number of months back......
Unless Dan changed his script and didn't update the documentation.... |

Well, I just checked and my find of GCG200 (Nola Used to live nearby) doesn't show up, neither does Wallypog's nor Centris'. I tried the "Missing Log's" refresh and that didn't fix it either....
The way Dan's page work is that it watches the Recent Log's pages for new logs, notes, DNF's, etc...
If there are more than 200 log entered in a 5 minute period, they roll off of that page and Dan's site wouldn't see them.
It USED to be that gc.com didn't report logs from MOC's here, and so Dan's page wouldn't pick them up either.
Dan's workaround (a script that can scan individual caches for missing logs) can't log in, so it can't see MOC's either.....
My only guess is that recently GC.com changed what appears on the recent logs page so that MOC's logged during slow times might get caught by the site.... Otherwise the only way to get them in there is to get the cache owner to change the cache to a public cache and run the update script before changing it back..... |

I have fixed this deficiency, now you can use a username;
| Code: |
$ geo-count rickrich
USERNAME: rickrich
Traditional Caches 65
Virtual Caches 9
Unknown (Mystery) Caches 3
Multi-caches 14
Event Caches 6
TOTAL 97
|
BTW, today should be the day I hit 100 caches found.

I was just looking at Dan's stats page, and noticed that Ko_tis_vey has hidden -2 caches--how does one hide a negative number of caches? Also, I've been finding a few of KB's MOCs in the past couple of weeks, and they've been showing up in my stats on Dan's site--I don't know the how or why, I just thought I'd clarify that they do show up on the stats page without any extreme manipulation. _________________ There comes a time in every young boy's life when he gets an irresistible urge to seek buried treasure.--Mark Twain |

Dan's site works inconsistently at best. _________________ "Hi, I'm Moe, or as the women know me - Hey! You in the bushes."

Here are the stats I computed for just the members of MnGCA, as best I could. There could be errors since the MnGCA username is sometimes not the same as the gc.com username.

http://home.mn.rr.com/richardsons/geo/byowned
I had to make an alias file to map some user names, any corrections are appreciated...

Very interesting when you put them side by side. The ranking order really doesn't change all that much. The position for my name was 13 on one and 16 on the other. Lot's of other folks had the same thing happen. This must mean that there are a lot of us who set out about the same ratio of caches to those that we found? |

Yes, sorry. I made it a multi-cache
I will probably change them one more time. BTW, these counts will be updated Friday and Monday mornings.

If I created a form would you mind uploading them to our site? We can discuss details offline. Well. . .online, but offpost? |

| These pages aren`t right either. We only have 192 finds but it list us as 205. Is it counting notes and cant finds? That would put us at the listed 205. |

It lists me at 400 finds, and I'm at 373--not quite ready to celebrate another milestone yet. It must count caches I have logs for, since I have more logs than 400 in the system, but some caches have multiple logs--i.e. there's a couple with more than one DNF from me, or some with just a note, etc. Also, I have 28 benchmarks, and that would make my count 401, so if benchmarks are counted in with my actual finds, that makes the list the most accurate. _________________ There comes a time in every young boy's life when he gets an irresistible urge to seek buried treasure.--Mark Twain |

| Depends on what you count. I was counting NGS benchmarks, and wasn't counting Trash In/Out events. On Monday, the stats won't count NGS benchmarks but will count Trash In/Out events. That seems to be closer to what gc.com counts for your total. Although, IMHO my original count was better as an indication of a "true find". |

I can FTP the stats (raw text or with eye-candy) to whereever you want.
Of course, I myself prefer the raw text version as it has a near infinite signal to noise ratio,
and the next person who wants to scrape it doesn't have to work very hard.
Oddly enough, I am posting this in a thread about gc.com's lack of style. Personally, I don't need no stinkin' style. I just want the info. My problem with gc.com is that they don't offer the information that I want.. Secondary to that are any style considerations. You can't fix a bad website by adding style to it.
