aaaakkkkk -- you are right -- those are bad!

I got real excited at first when I clicked on the bug symbol on the "found" side and thought they had FINALLY decided that the bugs were *important* enough to track finds on each individual, but it only took me to the main bug page Crying or Very sad

Yup -- this is not good. I am sure he may get some complaints on this.
I may have to wander into the big forums and post -- god forbid!

I don't see anything wrong with the new look for the profiles. Then again, I also like the new "Nearest Caches" page, too, but I was at Guard camp when that changed, and I probably missed it when all the bugs were being worked out.

All kidding aside, I think a two page profile/stats for each person is cumbersome. It could have all been on one page and they could have FINALLY added the "Bugs found" page for each user.

If they can rearrange all the catagories and types of caches found, caches placed and arrange the types of bugs into "dog tags" (aren't they "bug tags") and two types of geocoins, why can't they just make a simple list of the Tbugs we have found? </soapbox>

In all seriousness, I'm not that terribly fond of the new profiles either, but I can see some explanations why they were done this way.

I myself would prefer just a nice clean total, but since there's always disagreement over how that number should be derived or what stat is imprtant or should be listed in the top 10... (Need I say P2P?) Now people can cook the stats to their own liking.... If you don't think virtuals matter... Just leave that out when you add things up...

<rationale>
Not the most effective way to convey data in my opinion, but the way to take the most heat off Jeremey....
</rationale>

I still can't figure a reason for not displaying the bugs a person has found....
Especially since it would be a nice way to figure out how many TB's people are hoarding...... Wink[/b]

Fear of change? Actually the opposite. If I had it my way, I'd have the entire site re-done.

I just think it's going in the wrong (lack of) direction right now.

I just noticed that the stats page no longer counts up cache totals. There goes the easy way to do our congratulations area on the front page!

I also look at the Inside Corner stats--sometimes, one has to go to the missing caches link to update their stats, though. I think it mines GC.com once every fifteen minutes, and it'll miss some logs when GC.com is busy, like when everyone is logging their weekend finds. I know towlebooth has more than 361 finds, for instance.

It also misses multiple finds for the same cache (for instance if you re-find a cache that has been moved or you report several temporary finds at a geocaching event). I think it also misses "members only" caches.

Okay, enough lurking Surprised

Just to comment that it does indeed count the "member only" caches, as half of mine are KB Caches and members only.

My collection of geo-* tools for Linux (http://home.mn.rr.com/richardsons/geo/) includes geo-count:

Code:

$ geo-count 82192
USERNAME:                       rickrich
Traditional Caches                55
Virtual Caches                     6
Unknown (Mystery) Caches           3
Multi-caches                      11
Event Caches                       6
TOTAL                             81

$ geo-count -s 82192
81      rickrich

It currently requires the user number, rather than the user name, however.

No it doesn't count members only. as is stated here
KB CHANGED his caches to members only.
They must have been public when you originally logged them.

No, they were "member only" when he found them, BUT they all started out as public.
