Hi, I just wanted to give you a heads-up on a geocaching event happening in the Twin Cities over the next few weeks. It's called the MontanaGPSquest. There 28 days of caching, prizes, etc.
There's more info at www.montanaGPSquest.com
Starts Sunday, good luck. |

| Yeah, I need to get a 3rd shift job to be able to do these things. Seems like stuff always comes up when I'm working. |

You dont want a third shift job they suck, I had to work one for nine years and missed a lot of my daughter growing up. _________________ Remember One does not need the MNGCA to geocache, but the MNGCA does need members to survive. |

Eh, I'm still a batchelor, so I'm good yet.
Probably find the right girl about the same time I got a 3rd shift job though... |

Forget 3rd shift. Just become independantly wealthy. Then ya won't have to worry about workin' at all!

The thing that bothers me the most about Sunday's "Prize" package is....
Clues week 1, Sunday, June 11
PRIZE:
Montana Hiking Package
» $50 Gas Card
» National Parks Pass
» Montana State Parks Pass
» Montana Hiking Guide Book
» Bear Spray/Mosquito Repellant/
Sunscreen
» Disposable Camera
BEAR SPRAY???? Now why would I want to win any contest that includes a supply of bear spray??? AAAkkkkkk!!!
Also for some odd reason I keep expecting ~somebody~ to comment on the contest site's choice of GPS brand and to comment on the fact that he has one JUST like it Does this give him an edge?? |

Since I was born and raised in Montana, I'd be all over this if I wasn't already enjoying a wonderful "vacation" in Asia. The Hindu Kush is a more impressive mountain range (I'm sure you've all seen what they look like on CNN when we go blow up some caves), but the Rockies are home to me. And living in Montana for nearly thirty years, I've only seen two grizzlies in the wild, once while driving, and once hiking, and they were far enough away that I didn't need bear spray. Bear spray is just a much more potent version of pepper spray. _________________ There comes a time in every young boy's life when he gets an irresistible urge to seek buried treasure.--Mark Twain |

A guy's going on a hiking vacation through the mountains out west. Before
setting off into the boonies, he stops into a small general store to get
some supplies.
After picking out the rest of his provisions, he asks the old store owner,
"Say mister, I'm going hiking up in the mountains, and I was wondering;
do you have any bears around here?"
"Yup," replies the owner.
"What kind?" asks the hiker.
"Well, we got black bears and we got grizzlies," he replies.
"I see," says the hiker. "Do you have any of those bear bells?"
"What do you mean?" asks the store owner.
"You know," replies the hiker, "those little tinkle-bells that people wear
in bear country to warn the bears that they are coming, so they don't
surprise the bears and get attacked."
"Oh yeah," replies the owner. "They're over there," he says, pointing to
a shelf on the other side of the store. The hiker selects a couple of
the bells and and takes them to the counter to pay for them.
"Tell me something, mister," the hiker inquires, "how can you tell when
you're in bear territory, anyway?"
"By the scat," the old fellow replies, ringing up the hiker's purchases.
"Well, um, how can I tell if it's grizzly territory or black bear territory?"
the hiker asks.
"By the scat," the store owner replies.
"Well, what's the difference?" asks the hiker. "I mean, what's different
between grizzly scat and black bear scat?"
"The stuff that's in it," replies the store owner.
Getting a little frustrated, the hiker asks, "OK, so what's in grizzly bear
scat that isn't in black bear scat?" he asks, an impatient tone in his voice.
"Bear bells," replies the old man as he hands the hiker his purchases. _________________ Mustang Dreamin' |

My question is, how do we know when someone found the cache?
At this point of the day, I could be wasting my time even trying for it. |

My bet is that it is under that bus bench....
instead of postcards, they should go for nano caches
I suppose you could call the number on the website.. ask them if it is found and then if they say yes, you could NICELY ask them why it is NOT posted on the site so you and dozens of other MN residents are not wasting your valuable Sunday down time. |
