I'm confused....Does an satellite Radio work inside? My understanding is they do.
Why then do we get little or no signal even with a light tree cover sometimes then?
thanks |

The quickest answer: Different types of signals, different type of information, different signal strength, and different sat positioning.
Signals: XFM works on different frequencies than GPS.
Information: GPS information is a lot more complicated than XFM, afaik.
Strength: as XFM is new, I'm sure it's designed for consumer usage. GPS originally was not designed for consumers, but for military strength receivers.
Positioning. GPS sats are constantly roating around the earth at a different pace and orbit compared to the rotation of the earth. XFM stats are geosynchronous (I think?), so they are always in the same position above you.
I'm a bit of a hack when it comes to this information - so someone chime in if I said something wrong.
Hope that helps,
-Aaron |
