Hi All - I've gotten clearance from the board to put together a poker run like the one I found here:
CINCO Poker Run
My idea is to have 7 caches that will not be loggable, and the only thing in the caches will be envelopes with cards. Dinner afterwards, haven't figured out where yet, and prizes for best poker hand, worst poker hand, door prizes, etc. Prizes will include MNGCA stuff. I'm looking at Saturday, April 8th. I'm posting to see what kind of interest is out there for this event. I'm gonna put it on, but I'd like to get an idea of how many of you are interested so I can figure out how big of a place we'll need for dinner. I'd sure appreciate if you'd email, post, PM, or otherwise let me know if you'd interested in attending. Thanks! _________________ I feel the need! The need for speed! |

It would probably start at about noon, I'd hand out rules and coords for the temp caches, you'd have all day to do as many of the 7 caches as you wanted to grab cards (of course you'll need at least 5 to make a legit hand), then dinner around 6 or so. _________________ I feel the need! I'm interested. _________________ I am amazed by how many people harp on the need to speak and write English in this country while exhibiting a fundamental lack of skills in the areas of spelling and sentence composition. Would this be irony, hypocrisy, or both? |

Argh, sounds like GREAT fun but I'll have to catch the next one - Saturday, April 8th is the NCAA Division I Men's Hockey championship in Milwaukee, so I'll be in lovely Wisconsin watching the Frozen Four. We've been traveling to the Frozen Four every year since 1989, and hopefully this year the Gophers will make the trip too! Great idea and I know y'all will have fun, hope to see ya at the next one!

That'd be just between my son's (14th) and my birthday. Any chance this would be kid friendly?

Because it is an MnGCA Event it is "Family Friendly" by definition. The "Poker Run" part is just running around to get a ficticious (and random) hand of cards to win some prizes at the event itself.
The Poker Run part of the event is not required to "attend". You are welcome to bring your entire family along to the dinner portion of the event which will also be family friendly.
Hope that explains it even though it was still confusing _________________ Sad state of affairs. |
