This is starting to get old real quick, I am trying to go paperless caching but I keep running into road blocks. My first palm pilot which I bought off ebay stop working before I could figure out the plucker program. So I finally went out and bought a Palm Z22 for caching, I was having problem loading the plucker program on it. To many different options to pick. So I decided to try CacheMate.

So this is were I am at, I got the Pocket Queries coming to my e-mail address in zip files, and I have cachemate the free version loaded to my Z22. When I drag the zip file onto the file converter file, the file converter window pops up , along with the file import options. I configure it with all boxes check except for the decode hints by default box checked. I am getting these instructions of the Maryland GC Assoc. Web page. When I click on OK on that window, it come up with CMC Convert window along with how many files were converted., again I click on OK.

When I hit the HotSyns bottom on my PDA, it goes through the process, but the cache pages are not loaded. I can transfer other information between my palm and computer with no problem, so I figure I must be missing some thing in the process. After I loaded the caheMate to my Palm, it did have me reset my PDA, which I did.

Any ideals or suggestion , they will be greatly appreciated. If this has been covered in another thread sorry for the double post. Sad

Just a thought, are there any other programs that must be installed on you PDA in order for Cachmate to work?
I have been using the program for sometime now with no problems.
When I get my PQ I extract the file. After extracting the file I right click on it. In the drop down menu I select "open with" then pick GASK.
Then in GASK I click on "File" and choose "Export" a menu drops down and I pick cachemate. GASK does the rest. Hot sych and off it goes to Cachemate.
Of course you need GASK to do things this way. But it is a very good program.
If this doesn't make any sense to you, sorry I'm a concrete guy not computer
Good luck, Al

I will have to be more careful with my wording Laughing
Speaking of CacheMate, I have been using it for almost a year now. One thing I would like to do is. After a day of caching have all caches found or DNF listed for entering into the cache logs. Instead of going from memory. Does it have such a feature?

When I find a cache, I move it to a "Found" category. You could also create a category for DNF's.

Here we go again with my lack of computer knowledge. I have cache aye loaded in my palm, no problem there. I have GSAK loaded on my computer no problem there. I have pocket quarries coming to me via e-mail in zip format, no problem there.

About a week ago I down loaded over 600 caches on my palm, instead of weeding them out to get rid of some, I just deleted all the caches that I had in cachemate and would just start over again. Since then ever time I tried to load more caches on my palm, I only get 21one of the original caches that I loaded.

Here is my theory what could be going on, first maybe I am screwing up on the way I have my pocket quarries coming to me, or since I have not paid for GSAK yet that it will not allow me to download more files yet.

Any ideals.

Unless someone can tell me otherwise (as I'm not THAT familiar with Cachemate), what you do in cachemate shouldn't affect the caches in GSAK. Do you still have ALL of the caches you want in GSAK, or just the 21 of the original ones?

When you import the PQ files into GSAK it will tell you how many caches it added. Regardless, if the caches are still in GSAK (but not Cachemate) then the problem doesn't likely lie in PQs. You have the information on your computer already - it's just a matter of getting it to the Palm.

I don't believe GSAK is crippled if you don't pay. It tosses up some reminders I think, but that's it.

I went over the previous posts on this thread, but I don't see how you export the caches from GSAK. The problem MAY lie in there, or it may be related to Cachemate specifically.

In GSAK, are you exporting all of the caches that are listed, or are you using a filter to filter down what you're exporting?
