****Mon 1/16 1:10PM UPDATE****
Scroll down in this thread...I have updated meeting coords!
-D.R.
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
No suggestions yet, so I'm stepping up to the plate:
GCT05J
GCT05Q
GCR9RK
GCR05V
Sorry Moe, I know you've done one of these, but the other 3 are new, and none of the other regulars have done the one you did or any of the others.
I may make a lunchtime or after-work run over to the area to scout out prospective meeting/parking coords and possible post-caching refreshment venues, but if anyone knows the area there and wants to offer recommendations for those, please post.

Not sure about the after part, but I parked on 33rd and Boone at approx 44 56.650 ; 93 23.380 on street, and it looked like plenty of parking along that street. It was just south and east of GCT05V. Should be a fun time for you guys... Have a blast. There might be some place to get together after near the knollwood mall or close by. _________________ round n' round we go! |

Sure, after someone say's something I decide to actually look at the caches
I used to live up in that area, and probably the closest is in the Knollwood mall, there is a Applebee's inside there. I know there are a couple other places right in that area as well, but the one I can think of off the top of my head is the Applebee's.
I'm in, should be a fun little jaunt over there...been a while since I've been back in that area anyway

Applebee's at Knollwood Mall sounds good unless someone comes up with a better suggestion.
I'll try to check out jrest's parking suggestion later today if I have time...thanks jrest! I'm sure it's a fine suggestion for a solo cacher...issue would only be if that location is in front of houses - we try not to do the "neighborhood raid" (6-10 cars showing up in the middle of a residential area after dark!) unless there's no better meeting/parking option. Jrest, can you advise if that was the case? |

I'll be there. Applebee's sounds great.
I'm looking at the 3 new caches on Google maps and it looks like there are only houses on one side of 33rd, unless the map is out of date. Otherwise, I see that GCT05Q is right across the street from Aquila Elementary School. We could park there and walk south to GCT05V and then circle back north to GCT05J. If we still want to do GCR9RK (multi) we can keep heading north. |

OK, I made a lunchtime run to the area. Here they are:
Meeting place: School parking lot, per GeoPierce's suggestion:
N44 56.833
W93 23.291
Things to know:
(1) This is less than 200 ft from Aquila 1 cache (I resisted the urge to pre-find it today so I could claim first find among the group Wed night...this means I'll likely be last-to-find, as usual!). Mtka. Blvd. cache is to the north (as is Lake Victoria - further), Aquila 2 is to the south. Moe can help us decide whether or not to bother with the Lake Victoria cache.
(2) Even though it's a parking lot, this will still resemble a "neighborhood raid", so someone bring a copy of the StarTrib article in case we have to prove legitimacy! (SB and GP can point to the pic and say, "Hey, this is us!!")
Post-caching refreshment: Applebee's @ Knollwood Mall:
N44 56.228
W93 23.120
Enjoy...

Anyone else find irony in the idea that someone can point at a pic of SB and get a sense of legitimacy?

I guess SB and I were the most legitimate looking. |

Actually, I thought the front page upper right-corner image of SG had the most cred. (I, of course, in the big pic under the searchlight in the background, was a close second!) |

I think it's more like an orgasmatron. (Quick, brownie points for the first responder who knows the movie reference I just made there...) |
