Parking/meeting coords and food/drink options to follow soon.
I looked for newer caches that the majority of the "usual suspects" hadn't done yet, and opp'y to do 2 or 3 in proximity and reasonable terrain, so I hope this is a good suggestion. Let me know...

Sure, three miles from home, and I am going to be in AZ. Wish I was with you all, but I will be caching in Tucson instead. _________________ "There is a pleasure in the pathless woods..." - Lord Byron |

EDIT: SEE POSTS BELOW THIS ONE FOR UPDATED INFO!
Parking/meeting place: I was going to scope out the parking/meeting place this afternoon, but I just found out my morning/early afternoon flights got cancelled and I won't be arriving in Mpls. until evening today. Not sure if I'm going to get a chance to get out there tomorrow either.
So, unless someone else is able to scout out a parking/meeting place ahead of time, let's just plan to meet at the site of the first cache on the list, Victoria 1. Supposedly it's a park-n-grab, so let's hope there's some parking there.
(Maybe the cache hider RickRich will see this thread and will offer a park/meet suggestion.)

TheGilby3 sent me this e-mail about the parking/food:
| Quote: |
There is a new road with new houses just south of "Victoria 3". Its a
cul-de-sac that runs along Tamarack Lake with a walking path down to the
Luce Line Trail. The path is at the very very end of the road, ( it looks
like a kids snow fort entrance). From this dead end, you are only a couple
hundred feet from your first cache (Victoria 3). It may look like an
assault on the hood again, but its probably your best spot. Not to mention
that you will be on the south end of the caches which will be a plus if you
are going to Floyds.
Also, I think floyd's only had bar food, Frozen pizza? Not sure. In
Chanhassen is Buffalo Wild Wings, Houlahans, Axels (spendy), and Applebees. |

OK, then let's start at Victoria 3, using Gilby's scouting report above as the meeting place (we can catch Victoria 1 driving out, or cachers can choose to do the quick park-n-grab on the way in before meeting up with the group).
And I vote for Buffalo Wild Wings in Chanhassen. I'll try to swing by and get the coords before Wednesday.

Darlene Prois, a reporter for the Star Trib, has spoken with me about geocaching in Minnesota and is interested in possibly joining us for WeekNIGHT Caching this week.
I sent her the first cache and the link to this thread as well as information about BW3's Chanhassen location.
She's very interested in observing the social aspects of geocaching and this would be the perfect opportunity for her to do so. Hope to see her there! _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

But now you'll have to be on your best behavior, for once!
Sorry I won't make it this week, I'll be on the road. See you all next week, have one on me! |

|
|
OK, I made a lunchtime run out to the target area today. Here are updated coords and intel:
Meeting place, near Victoria 3 (3rd cache on the original list), 7:30PM:
N44 52.388
W93 38.303
The street, Tamarack Trail, may not be on your map (it didn't make mine). And Gilby's scouting report is correct, it will look like a neighborhood assault depending on how many cars show up. In addition, there's a big 'ol No Parking sign at the cul-de-sac (where the trailhead is), so we'll have to park along the block there. And furthermore, at the house at the trailhead, there's an alert dog (inside) who will be sure to let all the residents of the house that we're outside...so if the reporter shows up, she'll also get to see how we explain to folks what the heck we're doing! (Someone bring cache printouts and/or the Geocaching brochure!)
Post-caching refreshment at Buffalo Wild Wings, Chanhassen:
N44 51.578
W93 32.056
Approach via Rte. 5, then Great Plains Blvd., then behind the Holiday station.
That is all...
