Anyone else amused at the amount of people "working" that are spending so much time following the MOGA crew

Too much stuff to do to keep track of the crew. Would like to be home already but I'm stuck here for another couple of hours yet. Till I get my S*** done. _________________ King of the Jeff Gordon TB's!

Well I am happy to report that it looks like Team MnGCA will retain the title. The awards ceremony are tonight at 1900 so officially we don't know yet. But from talking to the other teams I believe that we smoked the other teams with 28 of 30 finds with the second placeteam finding 24.
It also looks like the team of Pear Head and EskoClimber will place but we don't know where.
More later. _________________ Airborne All the Way! |

Sounds like a blast and MNGCA is leaving their mark!
I got an email from a friend who spends a lotta time
at that park. He said their local paper had an article
covering the event and "they mentioned that there
was a fair sized contingent from MN." From what I read
here, it seems like there is a fair sized aggressive
contingent from MN! Way to go!

*can't find the article online so he's sending it via snail
mail. i'll pass it on when i get it.. |

Way to go!!! Is there any word on the official results? Maybe next year we will have to hook up an APRS tracker so we can plot the crew on the way down and back.

Dont want to spoil it so I wont mention anything from the awards portion of the evening. I do want to say that it was pretty cool when Towlebooth presented the "Minnnesota Cup" to Brawny Bear. Nicely done! _________________ WindChill - www.IowaGeocachers.Org |

Official Results
Individual Event: Team Dog's took 3rd Place
Two Man Team: No one placed
Four Man Team: 1st Place (Arcticabn, Silent Bob, Towlebooth, Jillibean)
The individual event consisted of 30 possible waypoints in 3 hours. I believe that the winning score was 16.
The team events consisted of 30 possible way points in 3 hours. Our team found 28 of the 30 in 2 hrs 38 mins. Second place found 24 in just under 3 hours and third place found 17 with seconds to spare.
As far as pictures go. SB or one of the others will have to post. I didn't bring a camera. Only beer. _________________ Airborne All the Way! |

Thanks Windchill! Were you there? Too bad we didn't get a chance to talk. We really hope that the cup shows how much we love the event and the appreication we have for our hosts. Next year I hope to see a bunch of new teams competiting for the cup.
I'd rather lose a close race than take the first 5 years without a lot of competition. Onward to next year! |

I heard the winner found 15. I got 11. I didn't know the roads as well as he did. He was a great guy and a heck of a competitor. As he passed me I cheered him on - he is in his 40s and earned it! I know because I was right behind him for the first hour. |

Yep, I was there with a couple other IGO folks. We talked to Silent Bob for just a minute, but the competition was about to start so he had to go.
Someone from our group actually paid for a 4-person entry. After seeing the terrain we all had flashbacks to last year and decided to take it easy this time. Taking it easy was not as much fun.... _________________ WindChill - www.IowaGeocachers.Org |

OK, so now that I am back and I have had a chance to rest/sleep/recover, now I am back at work
In the individual event, first place won with 15 caches, 2nd and 3rd both had 13 caches but the other guy got back to the check in table about 1 minute before I did, so he got 2nd and I got 3rd. Still, I was thrilled, since I have only been caching for a little over two months now and that was my first event. I will have to go back next year and Minnesota can take 1st in everything.
Other then the competition, I scored another 19 caches in the afternoon for a total of 32/60 of the event caches. Additionally I grabbed another 43 caches on the way there and back for a total of 75 during the trip.
I had a blast, and I would recommend everyone try to go next year.
