ck.... I was wondering if you could tell me if there is anyone in western or southwestern MN that is a member other than me? I live in Montevideo and have placed MANY caches out in this area. I think I am up around 27 or 28 now that I have hid. Cachers that have found some of mine I have never seen on this site or notice that there have been any posts from any of them. I know we are out in the BOONDOCKS over here, but I'm just curious. Thanks,
Dave |

To tell you the truth, I haven't seen too much activity there, either! I haven't been contacted by many people from the SW, with your exception, and haven't heard of too many people geocaching on vacations to the area. I myself just took one trip out to Redwood Falls, but that was near a year ago.
Sorry I can't be of more help. I'll ask at the meeting tonight if any of the boardmembers are more familiar with anyone in the SW. My thought that as the area isn't high as a tourist hotspot, there is limited geocacher traffic to the area.
Thanks for the nore, I'll try to get a better answer for you tonight!

I'm going to try and get in a pheasant hunting/geocache trip out your way before the year is done. _________________ "You cannot reason a person out of a position they did not reason themselves into" |

| We grew up in the Madison, Marietta area and are planning on four days at Thanksgiving out there. Hopefully we will be able to get to some of your caches. I've looked at most of them on the web, and a lot are in familiar areas. Don't give up and point out that this is a good way to keep familiar with your gps for fishing and hunting. I know there are some good walleye spots in Lac Qui Parle lake, and a gps sure would have been nice to have back then. |

I'm a newbie from Mankato - but the geocaching bug bit me pretty hard right away. I've got 25 finds in my first month, even though it's getting tough to go out as much now that it gets dark at 5:00.
I've placed three new caches, and have several more all set to go in a 40 mile radius around Mankato. I'm going to try to fill in some of the 'blank spots' on the cache maps.
Since I enjoy taking frequent weekend get-aways to hike in warmer weather, and travel quite a bit as a musician, geocaching is pretty good fit for me. I think I'll stick around a while.

OK, I'll stay away from Mankato.
Besides, when I visit my son (and next year my sons), I can actually Hunt instead of Hide. _________________ Joined: 16 Dec 2002

I was at KB cache Moe the sneeze today when I pulled in there was a brown and tan ford truck there with a man and his dog. He had a shotgun so I thought I couldn't do the cache but he walk the other way so off we went. When we came back there was a GPS www.geocaching sticker on his topper. Does anyone know who this was? I waited a little bit but he didn't come back so off caching we went. _________________ Well the first days are the hardest days, don't you worry any more

No I think he was training his dog.
It just had me scratching my head because he had to know I was caching. _________________ Well the first days are the hardest days, don't you worry any more

He could have been goose (or as I like to call them, sky rats) hunting. The DNR opened an early goose season that allowed hunters to hunt on land or water. I also ran into goose hunters this past weekend.
