| Does the file name of an eXchange file *.gpx have any meaning. For example, does the prefix have special significance? |

GPX files are "exchange files". I'm not 100% sure what you mean though. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

| I thought I once read that the prefix of a GPX file name determined the type of cache it was - micro or regular (for example). |

Do you mean like foo.gpx and foo means that's it's a micro/regular? No, not that I'm aware of. Most GPXs I use come from geocaching.com via their Pocket Queries. They are just numbered sequentially (i.e. 37461.gpx)
There are geocaching extensions in GPXs that list the container size though (if it's available) but that has nothing to do w/the filename. That's inside the XML. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

Generally, yes, but it's used by other programs as well. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

Thanks. I'm not sure what I thought I read before.
I found this website that covers what I would assume is all of the technical aspects of creating a GPS file. It makes no mention of there being any significance to the file name (as related to my question).

Not sure I am on topic, but here goes. So, I am thinking about running a pocket query (haven't done so yet). Was looking at some of the software/shareware/freeware, etc. out there to manage the query. Anybody have a suggestion as to what might be the best method to use, or how I should start out running the query? Thanks..... _________________ round n' round we go! |

Even though many others like GSAK I don't as it costs money and the UI is absolutely awful. I prefer ClayJar's Watcher as it's free, fast, and the UI is simple and easily configurable. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |
