I have a new recommendation. I'll have to say that this is some of the best Mexican food I've had in the Twin Cities. It's a fairly new restaurant that replaced a failed Asian restaurant that seemed to want to put ginger in everything you ate.

Here's the spot:

Perla del Pacifico, 6009 Nicollet Av., Minneapolis, 612-869-5358.

Not that fancy, but the food is so, so good. It's across from Cub Foods on the south side.

Sorry, I'm not informed enough to answer that one, but I'll describe what I had. I order a steak burrito. What came out was what I would have called a fajita. However, the steak was thinnly sliced and came out as a giant slab. It was about 13-inches long by 6-inches wide. It was really tasty. In fact, it was so good, I decided to eat it as a steak and fill the totillias with the beans, rice and guac that was on the plate too. They also have a large selection of sea food there. They have several mexican drinks like sangria and some drink they were bringing out by the pitcher that looked like milk - but I think it was some sort of fruit drink.

Sounds delish - sounds Tex-Mex- ask the next time you are there. I didn't mean to sound uppity- but I do know the regional cooking of Mexico and I am always interested in new restaurants that feature regional cooking of Mexico versus Tex-Mex.
