Round 6 is on! I'd like to open this thread to discussions on what we want to happen during this round.
How long? Point system? Based on the feedback posted here I will create a vote in 2-3 days to decide how this round will go. Please post away! |

Three months is a nice time frame. And I like the idea about random scores. _________________ So many caches...So little time |

| Three months is good. Score the same as the cache Difficulty? |

That would be difficult to automate. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

| I don't play, but...cache difficulty would only apply to the first time a cache is found. If you score laker points based on cache difficulty someone grabbing or dropping a laker at a cache they had previously found would get more points unfairly. |

Spinowner touched on something I would like to see implemented but have no idea how it could be done: zero (or at least reduced) points for lakers you pick up from a cache previously visited. _________________ "Hi, I'm Moe, or as the women know me - Hey! You in the bushes."

It would be difficult to implement as it would require scraping the page (or the user's stats) to see if they logged it as a find or a note (or a double find).
We can't (as an association) scrape the site legally or Jod might get angry. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

Another interesting point scheme would be to start all lakers with "one" point and let the point values accrue as they sit in one spot.
The longer they sit ....the more desirable they become _________________ So many caches...So little time |

Then there is no motivation to move them until the last day of the round. You would be better off with the opposite of that... The shorter the time they stay in a cache the more they are worth. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

The farther you move it, the more points you get.
Laker Brule is not in Singing hills trail. I was there a week ago. _________________ APRS: Combining Hamradio with a GPSr.

So, is round six gonna run for three months, and I guess does that mean we are going to be done with this round in about 3 more days? Just checking. Later _________________ round n' round we go! |

| After numerous attempts to get an answer to when Round 6 of the Laker game ends, I am assuming that this round will continue until the end of the year. |

After you contacted me about the end of the round, I forwarded your request on to towlebooth as he expressed interest in continuing to run the Laker game.
I'll attempt to contact him again and point him to this thread and your original e-mail to me. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |
