I understand your frustration. But now we can run out and get FTF before FTA. _________________ Airborne All the Way! |

I'm glad you've posted this. Geocaching is our game, and nobody should feel like they should wait for someone in Washington or Georgia to tell you it's okay to play. If the MnGCA had the resources to create our own cache listing service for caches in the state, I'd support it. But that's a pretty far-fetched idea at this point.

Id support that idea too! Actually, it wouldnt be all that hard to run.
A stand alone PC with a decent connection could run it just fine-
We'd just need a pile of hardware, a bit of experience - and someone to design a useable layout. (oh, and the $$ connection costs, etc)
OK, so maybe that is far-fetched...... But I still think it would be great! |

originally I believe cache locations were posted on a newsnet group, so there's nothing stopping anyone from listing a cache anywhere (it is afterall only a set of lat/lon coordinates). Only difference is the format of what a cache page looks like.
Some people like their stats (okay I like tinkering with mine), but after using a progam like GSAK, among others, I don't think it's too much of a stretch to think that someone could post their own style of stats under any sort of website..
Sheesh, look at me, it's almost like I'm a free thinker or something |

You could count all caches, no matter where they came from.
MNGCA "total count" = gc.com count + nc.com count + mngca.count. |

Exactly, why limit yourself?
Only problem might be cross posted caches (posting a find on both sites for a visit to one cache). |

http://opencaching.de looks promising. 300+ caches in 1 month of operation.
USA
translated URL. Click on, say, Newest Caches. We could port it.
I like the HTML. No clutter like gc.com, nc.com, or gpsgames. |

(This cache has been "temporarily archived" because I put in the wrong stage 2 coordinates in my “note to reviewer.” It's now stuck in limbo. I can't activate it, and can’t get an answer to my emails. The fall colors falling fast, so I'm posting it here.)
Along the Southwest Regional LRT Trail. Following abandoned railroad beds, this is a little better than a half mile hike one way. With grades of five percent or less, the 10-foot wide crushed limestone trail is ideal for biking, walking or running.
Paying tribute to the 1st cache I ever found. And because I thought it would be a fun name.
Stage one is a well camouflaged micro containing only the coordinates to stage 2. Please exercise your best ‘stealth mode,’ as you will be in plain view of hikers, bicyclists, joggers, and automobile traffic as well.
Stage 2 is a small camouflaged Play-Dough container with log book, pencil, & very small trading items.
_________________ ...formerly 'dachebo'. |

This is the 2nd time I have placed a cache here...I hope this one lasts long enough for someone to find it. Both stages are in new locations, so please note the new coordinates for the first one.
When trying to find the first one, as I tell my 4 y.o., you can do it the easy way or the hard way. The easy way is to follow the trail to get underneath the location.
Enjoy the view of Hartley while going to the first stage.
This is a regular items multi-cache..no books..since I lost them with the first one. For the FTF, I left an activated Maryland geocoin, which you can keep or pass it along.
Due to the amount of after hours activity, please conceal well.

If this is going to be a viable idea, should we pin the topic to the top of the page? _________________ I am amazed by how many people harp on the need to speak and write English in this country while exhibiting a fundamental lack of skills in the areas of spelling and sentence composition. Would this be irony, hypocrisy, or both? |
