What is this?
"Grab the brass ring"
I took the picture off, because it identifies a geocahcer, so I don't want to give his secrets away. I won't say exactly were I found it either, other than that it is in the Minneapolis metro area.
However it is a 3" flat brass ring with an identifying name and number on it. It looks like some kind of "travel bug" however it is screwed down in place as if to just locate a spot. _________________ asnope292

It appears that it may be a step in a multi. It looks like it has a name on it who is a MN geocacher. Maybe he will provide some more information.
