|
|
I thought this topic was covered recently, but I could not find it...hope this is in the right forum:
I need some advice from those of you with more experience at adopting caches...... there is a cache close to home that I am trying to adopt..GCHH99
I read about how to go about it on GC.com's question & answer area.....I had emailed the cache owner with no response...I sent a copy of that email with an explanation of why I wanted to adopt this cache to contact@geocaching.com
I got some sort of generic confirmation email stating they got my email...and something to the effect of..they get thousands of emails each day, and it would take awhile to get to them all.
Meanwhile...the computer that I was using when I sent all this has crashed and burned....I lost EVERYTHING!!!
I am using a brand new computer now...I do not have a copy of the confirmation email....or the copy of the email I sent to the cache owner..
a good 2 months have gone by with no results or email from anyone from GC.com
I can only assume there is a better (faster) way to adopt this cache.
What should I do???? |

| Personally I would just email mtn-man through his profile and give him a condensed version of what you just wrote. Mtn-man is normally the approver for our area so I that's why I pick him... |

email contact@geocaching.com with:
adopt GCXXXX in the subject line. Make sure you explain you have attempted contact w/the previous owner and that there was no reply. CC mtn-man. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

Well, I resubmitted my request to adopt the cache on tuesday evening....hope it goes thru.....
Sent it to: contact@geocaching.com.....
when I CC to mtn-man, I keyed in mtn-man@geocaching.com
Is that how I was supposed to do it?? Or should I have found his profile on geocaching.com and sent it there?????
Thanks for your help!!

I don't believe that the mtn-man address you used will work (I would be very surprised if it did). I would email him through his profile. Just cut and paste your email text to the page on gc.com for emailing him. He also reads these forums from time to time although it's been about a month and a half since he's been in here. |

Thanks SB, KB, and Pear Head!!
I got very quick results after taking your advice.....mtn-man sent me a CC of the email he sent to contact@gc.com within an hour of me sending an e-mail to him (at his correct email ).....and I just checked when I got home from work tonight and the cache is already transferred to me...I will replace the cache very soon and have it up and running again.
