Kind of like kicking the table over half way thru a game of trivial pursuit....
But it makes sense to arrange it in a logical fashion.

Due to recent spamming attempts via automated bots and malicious individuals, I have instituted some new safeguards and updates to combat this problem.

1. Automatic notification of any new user activity notifies the MnGCA Board via e-mail (registration, etc) so that they are aware of the new users w/o having to check the database queries.

2. Image verification routines were insitituted several weeks ago that keep automated bots from various spam groups and hacker communities from creating unwanted Forum user accounts that include inappropriate material in their profile URL.

3. I have modified phpBB to link to the MnGCA.org website registration area at http://mngca.org/register.php instead of the phpBB registration area. This will eliminate people creating only a single Forum account but not signing up for our website accounts. This also helps to further limit the automated bots' abuse of our software.

You will still be able to edit your phpBB profile information as always but new users will have to register via our website in order to receive a Forum account.

Upgraded the Forum software to the latest and greatest. There was a short downtime this morning related to this upgrade -- my apologies to dachebo (who was the only user online at the time).

I am slowly continuing the MnGCA.org <-> Forum integration. I have added support for links to MnGCA cacher pages from logged in users. I should have them added on the rest of the main page soon.

The main Forum page is now complete. Anyone w/an MnGCA.org account that matches their Forum account will have links to their cacher page whereever they appear.

I will slowly be working on the other areas of the Forum over time as well.

Ok, I completely rewrote all the code that I was using for the profile URLs, MnGCA website status (Member, Cache Games), etc and merged the code back into the stable forum tree.

It seems like it's working and that I've cleared up the bugs I created doing it the old and messy way Smile

I've replaced the old MnGCA Cacher profile page with an uglier version that includes (if you have one) your Forum avatar and links to your recent posts and your Private Message link.

Due to the fact that it's not as easy to PM people by clicking on their profile pages I had to include this information into the cacher page.

Yes, it's *VERY* ugly. I have asked towlebooth for some design help but he is extremely busy with real life stuff. If anyone is willing to come up with a decent profile page with some CSS too, I'd love them forever!

We have cleared the Forum user database of inactive user accounts. This will become an automated process that will run concurrently with the 30 day purging of inactivated MnGCA.org accounts.
