Just saw an article about http://maps.google.com/ -- tried it out and it works really well. I love the maps size and detail.
I sent them feedback and asked for them to add search by coords as that is the most important feature _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

| This is excellent! I too have requested searches by coord. Thanks for the link. |

| Whoa - the arrow buttons work great too. The map doesn't have to reload the whole page to scroll. |

I love the fact that you can drag the map around and it seems to display new sections as if it were a local application.
I just found a couple new parks just by dragging the map all over the place. You can also use + and - on the keyboard to zoom in and out. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

You can use the keyboard or the mouse to do this BTW. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

| This works slick-- I do like the way you can drag the map around. I used this to plot some directions today and it works better than Mapquest. I'm impressed. Now, if they could plot by GPS coordinates... |

Definitely a step up from MapQuest. I'd like it if Groundspeak would link to this rather than MapQuest on the cache pages. I imagine there are contracts between the parties that would get in the way, but if it can be done it would be an improvement. _________________ Sig line? I don't need no stinking sig line! |

Well it's a bit difficult when maps.google.com doesn't support mapping by coords. I suggest "sending feedback" and mentioning that. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

| Also, I will make maps.google.com a source for geo-map. |

I like it. I like the interface and I love what rickrich did already (you rock).
In addition to the search by coords I would like to see a map scale so that I can tell the actual distance across the map. I think that the map zoom is a little overkill. You zoom in so close you can loose all detail. But once I play with it I know just how far to zoom in so it's not really a big interface problem to me. _________________ Airborne All the Way! |

Very cool. Now how do we get a pointer at the coord? |

Very cool mapping!!! I just tried a test: Went to Maporama.com...where I got the LAT /LONG coords for an address. (used Mpls Convention Center since I am going there this weekend) ....then I went to Map.Google and applied the coords in the format that SB showed.
Came up with a very nice map with much better detail than Mapquest or Maporama.
Thanks SB for showing us this cool site!!
Has anyone ever tried Maporama?? I like it ONLY for the times I have an address that I want to get GPS coordinates on. It's easy to use for that....
I wish that Google.maps had a similar format where it showed Lat/ Long at the bottom of the map screen like this.
