Mr. Richardson,
It's Peter O'Gorman; I am running for the park district commissioner for the fourth district.
I appreciate the question regarding geocaching. I am more or less in agreement with the three rivers park district regulations dealing with geocaching.
Some areas of the park district would be better suited for this sport than others, obviously, but the concept of using the parks in this way is great. The number of caches permitted per park is adequate, but each park as I said is different and should perhaps have it's own regulation regarding the number of caches. The restrictions on trail use obviously should apply to anyone using the parks. As to the cache location, the sport shouldn't disrupt the natural environment. The only item that appears to me to be a little over-the-top is the 25 foot from trail restriction for the cache. In some park or trail situations that would be appropriate; but again each park ought to have it's own specific regulations regarding the distance-off-trail caches.
I hope I have given you an idea as to where I stand on the issue. Thanks for getting involved and having an interest in this race. If you have any more questions, comments or concerns, don't hesitate to email me anytime.
Thanks again
Peter O'Gorman
