a cache that was hidden or abandoned at the Jasper Peak Fire Tower near Tower other than the official one that is there? Seems a second one was found with out any id on it- wondering if it was a second cache or a nabbed one from somewhere else. It is in a cheese mania container and has a pencil ,paper, matchbox cars and some other small trinkets- there is a written log from summer of 04- it is near a log, not where the real one is.

So, did the finder leave it in place or move it to the other cache that is on the geocaching site? That is slightly odd. I haven't found the Tower cache yet. I've been there twice and have run into hunters, so figured I'd skip it for awhile. I'm trying to leave some caches in your area "uncached" so I have an excuse to head to Ely. Like I need an excuse... Wink

There were 3 of us involved- the finder, me and the new caretaker. The new caretaker has determined that it is an illegal cache- but is looking into trying to see if he can find it somewhere on the web- I have looked and have come up with nothing. If he can't find it he will disband it and put the trinkets in the real cache. The person who owns the cache is from Duluth and the new caretaker lives close by. He is also going to see if he can adopt the cache as from what I have learned the person who placed the real cache is not caching at this time- and then if he ever gets back into caching he can have the cache back- so I guess that is what we are going to do.
