Dear user < edit >transit@netscape.net,
We have detected that your email account has been used to send a huge amount of spam messages during the last week.
Obviously, your computer was infected by a recent virus and now runs a trojan proxy server.
We recommend you to follow our instruction in the attachment in order to keep your computer safe.
Best wishes,

Something about this seems phony. If this is true, would the messages show up in my *sent* folder? |

No, they likely wouldn't be in your sent folder but it is probably a fake. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

pif attachments are always infectious. There is no reason (99.99% of the time) that anyone would send you one. Your email provder should have stripped the attachment before it got to you.
I would never open an attachment unless I was expecting it. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |
