Well, 2013 hasn't worked out as well for me regarding my goals as 2012 did:

Travel: Add 1 or more Canadian Provinces, and 1 or more states, plus 15 or more counties.
Result: added 1 state, 13 counties. The trip to Winnipeg was blizzarded out, so no new Canadian Province.

Cache type goals: Hit 100 total in Multis, 50 each in Earthcache and Virtuals, Attend at least one event each month. Complete one or more 5/5/ caches.
Result: hit 109 Multis, 54 each Earthcaches and Virtuals. Attended an event each month except September (missed Birthday Mondays because of Labor Day). No additional 5/5 caches. I did get my second webcam this year--look out Bart!

Hiding: Put out at least 10 new quality hides, with good, tough puzzles among them, as well as a couple of worthy Challenge caches
Result: No new straight puzzle caches hidden. I'm really disappointed with myself for that. I did put out three Challenge caches that I think are actually somewhat worthy of the name.

Find a cool cache to do as # 2500, and maybe even make it to #3000 by the end of the year.
Result: Had a fun Library Multi as #2500. Unlikely to hit #3000 by 12/31/13

Remember to take more photos and include them in my online logs.
Result: took more photos, but still plenty of room for improvement

Attend 2 or more CITOs
Result: Attended the WBL Cleanup in March, but that was my only one

I know I still have three weeks to improve my results, but the photos one is the only one I expect I'd be able to really affect.

Good idea. Here are our results:

1) Finish the streak at 500
Done!

2) Finish a Year of FTFs (we are at 8 months so far)
Done (but still have to find the challenge cache that goes with it)

3) Finish the Avian Adventure
Done!

4) Find a cache in every county in MN
Done!

5) Complete all Geo-Stalker Challenges and Final
Nope

6) Complete our fizzy
Added 4 in 2013, bringing total to 66/81

7) Hide 3 more caches for Blue Belt
Nope

8) Hide another 30 caches, get at least 1 more state, hit #2000 (easy), and host an event for Brown Belt
Got 7 more states and hit #2000, but didn't do any more hiding this year.

9) Then, hit #3000 for Black Belt
Nope - at 2294 now

10) Complete the Placed Month grid
Added 32 in 2013, bringing total to 154/163. Happy to have first two months done, including Mingo! And have the rest of the months mapped out for next year.

11) 7/11 Virtual Challenge
Done! (but still have to find the challenge cache that goes with it)

12) Complete the Cache Across America (this will take years, I'm sure)
Added 1 more state to the completed list, bringing the total to 2.

13) And our loftiest "bucket list" goal would be to find a cache in every county of the US, but of course we'd have to be retired to do that... We work on it everywhere we go though as much as possible...
Added 128 counties in 2013, bringing the total to 246.

So, in 2013, I'd like to cross at least 5 of those off the list.
Yep! We did complete (the hard part, at least) 5 on the list

I have not yet thought out 2013 in great detail yet. But here's a few thoughts..

Completed.

I'll continue my quest to be webcam cache leader. If lucky I might add 10 this year. Need approx 20 to take the lead (last time I checked).

I added about 15 and am easily a strong third place. I am a couple away from 2nd. But the first place geocacher is more or less running away with it once he found my goal.

I'll continue my quest to cache in all 50 states and DC. I only have 8 remaining. I doubt I'll be able to make progress this year.

I added three states this year; SC, GA & FL.

I did a fair bit of "run caching" and climbed trees and had a lot of fun! And yup cached on a kayak trip in the San Juan islands. That was one lonely cache.

I don't do goals when it comes to things I do for fun. It takes the fun out of it, and creates opportunities for gross interference.

Still true.

So having said that, here's what I'm looking at as "goals":

1) Have fun caching.

Check.

Quote:
2) Take photos while caching.

Check. (Probably about 3,000-5,000). I've started tracking but don't have the stats at my fingertips. Shooting from the hip, I'd guess 50% of my finds get one or more quality photo added to it.

Quote:
3) Place my first cache.

Have a short series in planning, but it's going to wait until spring.

Keep it simple, keep it fun.

Austin

In 2013 while geocaching we have:
been in Mayan ruins;
visited the starting point of the American Revolution;
climbed rocks/trees/signposts;
swam in an underground river;
walked on (frozen) water;
found a 6 leaf clover;
translated 10+ languages;
revisited our first date;
arrested Mr. Boddy's killer twice;
looked through garbage for a cache; and
cleaned up garbage for an event cache.

2014 has a tough act to follow.
