If I recall there is a county in Wisconsin that has only one a virtual placed by Little Otter and adopted by Trekkin and Birdin if I am right. If that virtual were to go away there would be a gap in Wisconsin.

I think that would be Menominee County and GCG5NH.

Wow - we've driven by there dozens of times before we knew about Geocaching. We have friends that live in Antigo that we used to go visit a lot more regularly than we do now. Going to have to schedule another visit soon and go get that one! Wonder why there are so few caches around there anyway?! Seems like the town of Keshena could use some!

Th entire county is an Indian Reservation.. which is why the grandfathered virtual is the only cache in the entire county. Our gang found it last spring.

Are there any counties in the US located entirely within something like National Park Service land where physical geocaches are prohibited? That seems like it could be a problem, although there might be virtuals or earthcaches there.

Oh, and if you ask about this on the national forums, expect lots of unasked for opinions and blatherings about how challenges aren't real caches, you're playing the game wrong according to some other person's rules, etc...

Oh, I see. Somebody asked about that county earlier in this thread, but I didn't realize that was why.

And thanks for piling on. Very Happy

Loving County Texas only has two caches in it.
Interestingly enough - one has more "found it" logs than people living in the county.

Edit to add - GC2H0BC if anyone cares.

I saw that. I am shocked that nobody has done this yet. I didn't think Alaska would be that hard to do!

I'm thinking maybe it is because Alaska is really big, remote and maybe some areas are hard or expensive to get to.

Agreed.. Don't you need a plane to reach many areas in Alaska?

I checked with Leroy. He estimated it would cost $15k for airfare to qualify. No roads in some areas. One flight was very long and if there was bad weather, they just bring you back......no refunds.

He did think Cavyguy could be the only person close due to his job.
