The events are headquartered out of Detroit Lakes. So far we have over 30 caches placed and ready to be found, there is a possibility of another 10-20

All the caches are hidden, for a grand total of 56. If you show up to the Friday night camp fire event you will be given a head start on the 15 puzzles made for the event. All caches will be permanent.

I want to start getting the word out about our event this August in Park Rapids. Hopefully, it will be a fun time.

Here is what we have so far. I think any or all of it could change. We just had our first meeting and at this stage, everything is just proposed at this point. More details will be coming as time goes by.

NorthStar GeoSeekin' Weekend
August 15, 16, and 17, Antique Tractor Club Grounds, Park Rapids, MN
The Tractor club Grounds are located 1/2 mile south of Hwy 34 on Co Rd 6 (1 mile south of Wal Mart)
Campsites with water and electricity are $30 for the weekend. Reservations must be made in advance.
Primitive campsites are $15 for the weekend. Reservations must be made in advance.
Bring a submission for the creative cache container contest.
Drop a new travel bug with zero miles to send off for the travel bug race.
Caches will be distributed on paper to give everyone the same chance to get out at the same time. By doing it electronically, people will have to wait in line to get downloaded and people in front of the line get an advantage. We may have a GPX file available for you to use but it will not be available until 30 - 45 minutes after the first sendoff.
Free will offerings will be accepted.

Wednesday, August 13.
There will be over 80 caches published that have noting to do with any events. At least two of which are night caches. You may want to try to find these before the weekend, but the night caches will probably be done by groups staying at the campgrounds, so you may want to wait until then.

Friday, August 15
Bonfire event at 8:00 PM at the Tractor Club Grounds. Smores will be provided, bring your own drinks. Alcohol is permitted on the grounds.

Saturday, August 16
There will be a list of 15 caches on paper for a FTF race distributed at 8:30 AM for the NorthStar GeoSeeking Weekend main event. There will be a card in each cache with FTF on it. Collect as many as you can and bring them to the Tractor Club Grounds before 3:00 PM and the person with the most will win a prize.

There will be a list of 15 caches on paper for the padlock game distributed at 10:30 AM. There will be numbers on the cache containers that you will use to eliminate numbers that will give you the combination to the padlock to the final cache. These caches will not have FTF cards in them, so they are not part of the FTF game. If there are people in line to try the padlock, you get one try to open the lock, then the next group in line gets a turn. The FTF, STF, and TTF will win prizes.

Five of the caches will have sealed envelopes with playing cards in or near them. Pick whatever color of deck you want to play with and only take cards of that color, but DO NOT break the seal on the envelope. Envelopes with broken seals will be disqualified. The best poker hand of each color deck will win a prize.

There will be games to play at the Tractor Club Grounds going on all day. Games will include Plant the flag, blow darts, creative cache contest judging, temporary caches on the Tractor Club Grounds, kick the can, guess how many bison tube guts in the jar, geobingo, photo booth, and there will be a set of Chirp caches to try out.

The travel bug race will begin at 3:00 PM. You must "drop off" your new travel bug with zero miles into this event, and fill out an official entry form to enter the race. After starting out here, see how far your bug can go. At next year's event, bring a printout of your travel bug's mileage, and whoever's went the farthest gets a prize. You can't move your own travel bug, and someone will be monitoring all bugs entered.

Prizes will be awarded at 3:00 PM. All registered caching names will be put into a drawing to try to win the grand prize of a Garmin Oregon 550 T, plus other smaller prizes.

MnGCA will be hosting a "pizza night" event at a local restaurant probably around 6:00 PM. Details to follow.

At 8:00 PM, there will be a bonfire event with smores and hotdogs provided.

At midnight, there will be a flashmob event on the 300 block of South Main Street in downtown Park Rapids.

Sunday Aug 16
There will be a pancake breakfast event at the Tractor Club Grounds. Pancakes, juice, coffee, and milk will be served from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM with storytelling to follow. Suggested $5.00 donation per person.

At 11:00 AM, there will be a CITO event to clean up the Tractor Club Grounds. Trash bags will be provided, all we need are some helping hands.

You can follow all the latest developments at the NSGS website.

Hope to see you there.
