I was browsing the geocaching maps up north and got a chuckle out of the map..

- Big Dick Lake, Little Dick Lake, Johnson Lake and Jack the Horse Lake.

The Dicks have made me think in the past to have a series, or more likely, a bookmark list of oddly named lake caches. Obviously I haven't done that yet.

I been told by a friend who grew up nearby that Jack the Horse lake was named after a horse named....(you guessed it)...Jack went through the ice and drown on the lake.

Only Minnesota could have three different lakes named "Ham Lake."

68 Bass Lakes in Minnesota, 10 in my home county of Itasca (by my amatuer researach). 0 Walleye Lakes in the state. Back in my fishing days, I pretty much gave up on asking people where they caught that big walleye, because I could usually predict the answer. "Bass Lake".

Sounds like when naming lakes there is something being covered up.

A show being produced on our other channel actually used Big Dick Lake in a segment called "Lake name or porn star" I'm sure it will win an Emmy.

Only in Minnesota does mud make a lake.

Everywhere else it would be a...dang, that's a lot of mud!

I've dipped a line in both the Dicks in the past, but I never caught anything. If you want to catch something, I'd suggest the Clubhouse. Nice campground on that lake as well.

Clubhouse is great! Stopped by there on Sunday. Funny, I've camped at Clubhouse & explored the area multiple times over many years & never noticed the Dick Lakes. I was with another cacher 4th of July weekend & she'd noticed them on the map.
