I've been guilty of that as well. I was cleaning the couch (dog hair) and waaaaaay in the back I found a TB I'd picked up about 2 years before at an event and never logged. Embarassed

God bless events, mass TB purging!

Yet... I have had a TB stuck in a MNGCA event for a few months now, and NO ONE knows where it is! So events are not always the best either.

Wow. The person who's kept this TB for 2 years even has a picture of it on their profile!

That's funny.

The sad part is, it is now in a State Park Avian cache, meaning there's a good chance it will be next picked up by someone trying geocaching for the first and last time, and therefore go missing again.

More and more I am seeing people putting the tracking number on a piece of laminated paper along with the trackables pic and some trinket so that if it does go missing you only lost a piece of paper. I dropped one from Utah today like that.

Yeah I guess I could, especially since I haven't found that cache yet. Fortunately, someone with more than 2000 finds already picked it up. Smile

My experience has been the number of finds of a cacher has is of little predictive value on how well they handle trackables.
