For anyone working on the Jasmer Challenge (Find a cache hidden in every month since May 2000), please take note of a coming event. The Power Island Beach Party will be scheduled for the Saturday BEFORE Memorial Day and will be located within .25 mi of GC35. It is noteworthy because GC36 is located within about 30 miles of where the event will be held. GC36 is one of only two remaining caches within the US that was hidden August of 2000.
I've got a confirmed trip in the works over Memorial Weekend which includes the event, transportation to GC35 (canoe, kayak, jetski, boat rental), and finding GC36.
The event to be listed as Power Island Beach Party (GC462H4)

| I can't post the event yet for a couple more weeks but if anyone is interested, this is planned for the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. The location will be near the dock on the island where GC35 resides. |

I think you've posted map of GC36, required for Jasmer Challenge. The Beach Party Event will be held near GC35..

| Thanks for posting this, Bart! I've driven within GC36 numerous times, but never realized it was there. I knew about GC35, but the second oldest cache never gets as much love... |

Book your motel room now. Prices are rising daily because of the holiday. Hope to see you there. I'll have a 12 passenger pontoon with 6 open seats. |

Unfortunately, i don't think I'll be able to make your event. I am hopeful, though, that I can pick up GC36 next time I go to band camp with my dad. I just need to persuade him to take a different, probably far less scenic, route. |

| I am very interested in joining this excursion. What's the motel name & which dates should I book a room for? Thanks, Bart! I am really looking forward to this. Will help fill out some of the harder pieces of Jasmer Challenge. I would also be interested in sharing a ride/expenses to get from MN to MI. |

My route and itinerary takes me around the north side of the lake to Traverse City. On the way home I plan on going around the south side of the lake. If anyone decides to join, I'll need confirmation so that I make sure sure to save you a seat on the boat. My group (me, Norvina, youngest daughter Laura) has booked the following:
Friday May 24th
Econo Lodge(MI180)
703 N. Cedar St. (US 131), Kalkaska, MI, US, 49646-8485
Phone: (231) 258-9119
Saturday May 25th
Sleep Inn & Suites(MI016)
4284 29th Street, SE, Grand Rapids, MI, US, 49512
Phone: (616) 975-9000
Sunday May 26th
- undecided but will probably stay near Racine, WI. |

As for ride to MI, I am still trying to work that out. There are three in my group (if you include my Laura) and one other rider for a total of four. My Tahoe seats 4 adults comfortably plus two SMALL people in rear (my kid). My wife's van seats 6 comfortably. Not sure which I'll be driving yet, too early to tell.
There's one other couple joining us but they're driving on their own.. I don't know if driving different paths or in a convoy. |

| Pontoon rental reserved. If my existing group of 5 stays in tact, there are 7 of 12 seats available. The more the merrier (and the cheaper it will be). |
