Greetings from Minnesota Ki....King Boreas? Hey, we've got a guy back in Minnesota who goes by that name too. Anyway, felt need to make this stop and grab on way back to hotel after morning on volcano. Took nothing, LAUNCHED a Minnesota themed TB (let's see where it goes), and SIGNED THE LOG!

When I saw this cache listed I thought, probably not for me. Of course, that didn't last very long. So I grabbed my waders. What are my waders? That would be my cut off jeans and a pair of old tennis. I got to the boat launch and to the utter surprise of a woman standing, I just walked right in! I smiled and waved...she stood there with her mouth open. Funny! But the joke was on me. I didn't know that the cache was a ten of a mile from the launch. How long to walk a tenth of a mile? Three minutes? No, more like twenty-three minutes. I started walking and my feet started sinking. HELP! Something is holding onto my feet! My feet had sunk into the soft ooze on the bottom. When I tried to get out, my shoes started to come off. Oh god, now what? So it was one slow step at a time with an occasional almost losing my balance and going into the water. Got to the cache, got it out of the water and then couldn't open it up URGH! Dried off my hands on my shirt and tried one more time Unnhhh! Got it! Sign the log...everything is dry so far. Put it back and started the slow slog back. You guys really out did yourself this time. Made me feel like a kid again! Thanks a

Ground zero for the forest fire, so we were unable to look but took some photos. I recall you posting that Jane was Hot. We met her and she seemed about 98.6 degrees, but guess you were right, she was the last person here, and voila....a fire...she must be hot.

I've been watching this cache for far to long!!!
Everything lined up, and me and Z found ourselves with a couple hours to kill, and what better way than to check out this cache I keep seeing being found in the big city.
All the while thinking how the heck can a big trash can last there?? LOL
Well the joke was on me, and NOW I see!! [ Wink

]
With flash light in hand [:0)] we parked, spied said cache; and Z almost jump out of his pants with excitement at the well stock cache!! Ha Ha
A quick ring of the doorbell and a short chat, and a big thank you for the cache owner were at hand.
Then it was off for a couple more caches and some grub, then back downtown to pick the girls up from the "Beaver" [ Wink

] concert!!
Thanks again KB!!
Left a can cosey and took the yellow 4x4 TB to move north and east.

So I thought this might be a good time to go for this cache, what with the drier ground. It was drizzling a bit, as I made my way back. Once I got under the cover of the trees, my gps started laughing at me again. It had me going in circles one way and then back the other way. Finally I zoned in on the cache. I had just signed the log and was putting it back when I heard the voice, "water, I just need a little water!" I looked around there was this CREATURE! He (I think it was a he) was just a few feet tall. The hand he reached out was hidden by the mud from the bog. "Water! Please!" He looked so pathetic that I took out my water bottle and gave it to him. That was a terrible mistake! He pored the water over himself and suddenly he began to grow and GROW! "More!", he screamed! "That's all I have!" I yelled, backing away. "Then I'll have to take it from your body!" and he surged toward me. I turn and ran like my life depended on it. Breathing hard, I made it to the car. I could see him walking back to the bog. WOW! Will you be the next to go into the BOG?? Thanks for the cache, but not the creature. :] TFTCSL

What a fun day! I grew up a block and a half from this park. Of course it wasn't a park then. After the Navy jet crashed and took out four houses just off the crosstown (though there was no crosstown then) the government bought up the remaining open land in the area around Mother Lake for an airport buffer zone. They put up a little fence that could never keep us kids out. I was an adult before they put up a fence that would keep anybody out. I know of at least one private plane that went down in the buffer zone because I saw it upside down.

It's been nearly fifty years since I have been in this area, but what fun we had fifty years ago. Today I found the remnants of an old pump house I never knew was there; there was a lot more water in those days which greatly limited our mobility. There used to be another pump house somewhat west of the one I found today. I think it must be underneath the hills they made with all the fill they dumped here. If I ever found out that my son did the things that my friend Jack and I did in that pump house I would have grounded him till he was forty-five. Not that it was so very bad, just completely illegal and incredibly dangerous. It is by the grace of God, and a miss by maybe six inches, that I am neither dead nor horribly disfigured. This was the best place in the world to grow up.

Found this with AmazingGirl. Took us a bit, It was a nice hide. But it seems to have been muggled as the log had been removed and an interesting note putting a spell on the finders was put in it's place. Oh lucky me. I removed the spell and put a strip of paper as a new log in it's place, but CO may want to keep an eye open on this one. Send me a line if you wish to communicate with me about this.Construction seems to be done as the yellow tape is broken and flying about in the winds like long banners. But this isn't in an area that is taped off anyways.Always liked this area. Thanks for the excuse to wander about in it.
