I had never heard of these. I'm also curious if they are worth getting. _________________ "Hi, I'm Moe, or as the women know me - Hey! You in the bushes."

Sort of depends.
What it provides is a new map set which identifies all of the current trails that have been completed under the auspice of Rails to Trails Conservancy. If you go to their web site you can do a search for trails in your area and it will bring up a map of that specific trail. What the mapset does is take the provides a map with all of the trails in their current database in Red. I'm away from the house but when I get back I can post an image of what it looks like in BaseCamp.
As far as worth the money. I think that it is pretty expensive you buy the entire country. Moreover, if you know the area you are traveling to you can just look up for the trails in that area. Remember railroads are already in your Garmin Map database. So you just really need to know what sections are inactive and have been converted.
From the perspective of hiding a cache. You should probably already know where the trails are in your on area. If not go on the county website they will be posted there.
If you are looking for other areas. I'd have to assume that if there are a string of caches along a rail road that in all likelihood that it is a rail to trail.
But like I said when I get back I'll post an image and you can decide for yourselves. _________________ Airborne All the Way! |

Come to find out I don't have the same database set of maps here. I've got the Northwest USA. Sorry, but mine is not just Rails to Trails. _________________ Airborne All the Way! |
