We have a Garmin V and a new Etrex Vista C- any comments on the Lowrance units?

The folks that have the higher end ifinders and h2os seem to like them. They aren't like the Cobra or Whistler owners that seem to pretty consistently regret them.

From the eyes of a geocacher, they're less common and less commonly supported by the various geocaching tools.

For example, GSAK (which uses a program dear to me, GPSBabel for all its serial communication doesn't support Lowrance serial protocol. You can allegedly use GPSBabel to convert geocaches to CSV and bounce them through the Lowrance map program, but that does add an extra step.

Don't count on going to a meeting or group hunt and expecting the guys with the laptops or PDA to have the right software and cables to shoot waypoints into your unit.[/url]

Thanks for the info- I heard a business person on the radio the other day talking about these GPS's that he got in the store and he was saying how much faster they were compared to Garmins in getting signals. So thanks.
