| Since it's not going to be replaced it's a good thing we left a "temporary" container. Others that searched after us were able to complete the challenge. I hope the container survives the remaining few days. |

I hope it survives the three months that the cache is expected to be around (and I should say that I don't doubt that it will be maintained for at least that time period). _________________ Hmm... |

Hello ... we don't have an ammo can to put out there. The replacement is appreciated. If it wasn't there, I would have gone by there after the Event today.
The medallion hunt is over. Only cachers will be heading to that patch of woods.
If my fuse is short, I apologize. I've slept about 6 hours in the past four days. |

gravitybear found What's New, Pussycat? (Traditional Cache) at 2/4/2012
Log Date: 2/4/2012
@1436 - I found this cache out in the open. There was a note on the sheet inside that it was found by someone while searching for the medallion. I rehid it in a better spot. SL TFTC

| I did manage all ten finds. Found the replacement cache this afternoon, that was mentioned. Much thanks and appreciation to all of the CCC members for placing these. Although credit for all ten would be neat, I am just happy to have found them and had the chance at the hunt. I didn't get time to finish it prior to the official contest with the WC ending, but I am okay with that. Great and fun hides and we had a blast racing around the city in search of these. Even got into a couple parks I had not been to, since I am originally from up north... Again, much thanks to the CCC and everyone involved with these, as well as all who helped me figure out what was going on with the whole deal. |

| So, after reading the Pioneer Press article today and seeing them out with shovels and rakes I have to question how our activity impacts as much as the medallion hunt does? And, after having lost a cache to a similar hunt here in the LaCrosse area how many caches end up disappearing? |

This was mentioned (momentarily) on Facebook, so I'll respond. Damages can be reported to the Pioneer Press and, after confirmation, compensation is paid.
I haven't heard of Groundspeak doing this.

I had no idea the Pioneer Press paid damages. Definitely a policy that shows they are a good member of the community.
After the first to find I wouldn't think any cache would create as much of a frenzy as the medallion hunt, but there are geocachers that will always destroy the natural environment around a cache just as there are those that will always throw their cigarette butts out the window or fail to recycle. (People suck.) |

Groundspeak's level of involvement is different though than the level that the Pioneer Press is at. You're comparing apples to oranges. _________________ Hmm... |
