I have 3 caches near my house that require a boat/canoe/raft and I don't have one.
I am wondering if there is anyone who
1. Has a small watercraft (and trailer)
2. Wants to go with me
The caches are:
National Mascots - Woodsy the Owl http://coord.info/GC1D281
Boo Radley http://coord.info/GC1D01K
Garbage Can in the Woods http://coord.info/GC1J8JQ |

Sounds like a good idea for a WNC! If we could find the boats, that is. _________________ "We never seek things for themselves-what we seek is the very seeking of things"-Pascal |

Yeah, I thought about it as a WNC, except for the boat thing. I don't know anyone on the lake either. |

FWIW, we have done boating caches for WNC. It just takes a bit of planning to make sure you have enough boats. _________________ Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. |

| Any chance the lake has some type of park on it where you can rent a canoe? |

I don't think so. We did these in the winter, and it was a bear to find any kind of public access. There's a very small boat launch on the East side of the lake, and that's it I think.
It really is a nice walk across the ice to these. They're pretty winter friendly, too. |

That was a fun WNC. I recall that someone made some home made cream soda, good stuff. |

| I have a boat, but the only water it has seen in 14 years is rainwater. It needs a little (okay, a lot of) work that I will hopefully get to one of these years. |

| 3humphs and I grabbed those caches last summer with a kayak (me) and canoe (all 3 of the humphs). Water access is a tricky issue, but we were able to get in with our boats off of 58th just east of Twin Lakes Terrace. It was a little awkward and wouldn't work with anything larger than a canoe, but we did it without tipping either boat. I'd offer use of my kayak and blocks to strap it to the car, but I'm not sure how that would work with the boat license, etc. If you really want it, you could rent a kayak or canoe from REI, and use it to pick up all the island caches in the metro. |
