the ISS is also a locationless cache, for those inclined to do locationless ones (please don't kill or flame me for mentioning it)

Hey Buzzygirl, any more word on this stargazing event? Just thought I'd check in, since some people schedules are already filling up.

I haven't forgotten about this... I'm thinking about October 15 or 16. This is a Friday and Saturday, and the observatory has a regularly scheduled public event both nights. By that time, the bugs should be pretty well gone, and the drier, stabler autumn skies will be upon us too. What does everyone think? Let me know if a different time would work better. I can host something there most any night (though Fridays and Saturdays tend to work better for me).

Excellent. I wasn't worried you had, only that other people's schedules might start to fill up. Everybody's busy these days ya know, and it'd be nice to have a good turnout. The middle of October sounds fine to me, when does daylight savings kick in anyways? Seems to me it's darker much earlier in the evening after that, course I'm no sky expert, does that make much of a difference?

I just registered at the Heavens Above site. WOW! This is very very cool. This brings astronomy into a whole new realm for me! I find that if I have exact detailed data, I am usually more likely to participate with something. I will certainly be using this site on a regular basis, and probably be linking my site to it as well. Thank you for this...

Hey Mr. SysOp,

How about moving this to the Events thread? There are a few caches near that park, and there could easily be a few more. (temps, Lenny, don't worry)

I think the deer opener is the first weekend in November. I like October.

Okay, folks! I'm setting this event for Saturday evening, November 6. The observatory will be open if the skies are clear. I'm really crossing my fingers on this, because I think November is one of our cloudiest months. Confused

We should start viewing at around 7:00 pm or so. I'll be putting up an event page on geocaching.com, as soon as I figure out some basic HTML and how to import some nifty graphics into the page.

I'll also post links to a map and some caches in the area of Baylor Regional Park.

Hope to see you there!

Thanks... KB e-mailed this link to me too. I haven't read through any of the articles on this site yet; guess I'd better check 'em out at some point.

I read both HTML articles and a couple of the others. Now I feel a bit "better informed." Smile
