At 2:00 am, geocaching.com is down. Yesterday Elias didn't sound too sure about the time involved.
Any guesses?
I'll say 3:33 pm on 9/01/04 |

| Still down at 2:50am. All week long there have been outages. What's going on? |

Tonight around 11:00 PM PDT (GMT-7) I'll be performing a number of upgrades to the Groundspeak infrastructure. Of these, the most notable upgrades are the following:
Installation of a new firewall
Installation of additional disks to the web server's disk array
The firewall installation will be first, and should only take 30-45 minutes to install. During this installation, all Groundspeak services will be unavailable. All services except for the web site will return when the new firewall is brought online. The web site will remain offline while the disk array is resized to accomodate the new drives. I don't have a very good idea as to how long the resizing process will take, but I suspect it could be several hours.
I'll update this topic with status of the upgrades as information becomes available.
