I thought I'd let people know that there is now an iPhone application available that lets you solve and find wherigos. It's called WherPiGo and was designed by local cacher spstanley. I was involved in beta testing it, and it's pretty slick. It's available for free, or for 99 cents if you want some bonus features and no ads. Support your local cachers!

[UPDATE: SPELLING CORRECTED]

I can't find it. Do you have a link to the iTunes store page?

Try searching just for "wherigo" (with only one E in it). I think it's the only application that uses that key word. Actually, I think I misspelled the name: I think it's "WherPiGo". I keep adding a second E to spell out "Where."

The WhereIGo app for Droid works well, has no ads, and is free. Wink

After seeing this thread yesterday, I googled to see if there was a wherigo app for blackberry and found this:

http://code.google.com/p/openwig/

I installed it but haven't tried it. Just wondering if anyone else has?

I got an update from Shawn (spstanley), apparently apple hasn't approved the in-app purchase part of the app yet. Shocked So, it won't display anything if you open that tab. Other than that the app seems really nice. It's clean and simple to use. I think the app works better than playing a cartridge on Garmin GPS. I think the distances and arrow seemed to update faster than any GPS I had previously played a cartridge on.

Now what I think will be the downside of a smartphone app, and not a function of the app, is I fear my battery will quickly drain. I don't have experience with it in the real world yet so I don't know for sure. I hope I'm pleasantly surprised. Smile

I downloaded this a long time ago when I was looking for a player, but I have yet to try it out yet.

Rebelex and I tried the app (it's now called PiGo) on the Survivor cache in Ham Lake today. It worked great, except that we weren't able to save our progress on either phone. Has anyone else had a problem like this, or is it a problem with the the cartridge or cache itself?

Update to the Droid WhereYouGo application came down yesterday. Still have yet to give it a whirl. But I did get all of the local cartridges loaded.

Turns out there are funny characters in one of the cartridge's descriptions that cause the restore to fail. I'm working on a fix.
