I'm just curious if any MnGCA'ers are going to Geo-Woodstock this weekend.

that's almost a strech even if they were all park and grabs! I'd lost track of my logs after 200 in a day I think...

Caches Found in one day: 238
Caches enjoyed: 0 (maybe 1?)

We are talking about Cacheville, TN where the caches are basically park 'n grabs that are under lightpoles in parking lots. I can't exactly say that I would enjoy that.

Aha! So maybe the guy's a UPS driver and managed to cache and work at the same time. Laughing

So I decided to see if the cacherun is as bad as it sounds. I pulled the 1st 100 2.5/3 or less caches from zip 37075 in a PQ per the instructions.

Then I plotted them on Geo-woodstock cacherun map.

I would like to visit Nashville again some time because my good friend robertlipe (who got me started in this) lives down there. But there is no way I could leave the family on the 4th of July weekend. And unfortunately my family never wants to go anywhere. Crying or Very sad

That's a bummer. Too bad they set it up for a holiday weekend. I was a bit surprised. I'm pretty sure I'll be there, but it will have to be a day trip with my wife in the condition she is in. Originally it was to be a two day trip for me and a lot of caches along the way. We have a big deal going on for Sunday ourselves.

Ahem.

Yeah, Nashville has a lot of easy caches. We have a lot of non-easy ones, too. We just plain have a lot of caches. A ten mile radius around downtown (which I'm pretty sure ISN'T the epicenter) shows 411 caches.

[ pauses. does programmer stuff ]

The 5 mile epicenter as of 7/20 was at GC5603 with 185 caches in a 5 mile circle. This is urban area, so it's not like it's a bunch of 3 mile hikes up a summit.

So with that kind of cache density, if you plan carefully, is it possible to knock down ten in an hour? You bet.

The guided tour bus thing didn't align with my personal caching style, but those that did it had fun and didn't take anything away from my fun. If you're doing 200 in a day are you going to see repetitive and less-than-inspiring stuff? You bet. But we really do have some evil hunts here - and you're not going to knock 200 of those down in a day.

It's interesting that despite publicizing it on the GWS-II page, the majority of the "best of" list at http://www.mtgc.org/hits/ went unlogged over that weekend...
