Carver County has updated their geocaching guildelines. These guidelines are now in effect.
As a service to Carver County, we have the new guidelines posted here.
The main changes are:
1. Removal of the maximum of 3 caches per park
2. Removal of the maximum of 2 caches per individual for the entire park system.
3. Caches can be re-registered after one year. So you can now have caches remain longer than 1 year in the parks.
As you can see they have relaxed the rules quite a bit, which is good for us. Carver is very happy to have caching within their parks, so go out and have some fun!

Looks like nice incremental improvement in the policy to me. Their parks director is very aware of caching, the caches placed in their system, and any damage from footfalls around the caches. By relaxing the policy, I would assume that he's determined that caching is a positive and isn't hurting the land or plants.

You would be assuming correctly. I've been working with Lenny for many months and he is very pro-caching. As with all parks if there becomes too much "damage" from a cache he would most likely contact the CO and ask that it be moved or removed. This is one reason for requiring a permit for caches so they know who to contact if there becomes an issue. That all said, they haven't had any issues with the caches in the parks that I was made aware of.
