While the private property suggestion was likely tongue in cheek, it does actually make sense for large, elaborate cache designs such as the one discovered and the one (now evidently) for sale. Anything that is large enough to be found easily by someone who wanders nearby and is also constructed in a fashion to raise eyebrows in a non-cacher would be a real risky thing to put on public property. On private property though, it would be great - as long as nobody could get hurt joining in the fun. We need more rich cachers with acres of wooded metro property to offer up their land as real estate for elaborate caches. My 1/3 acre of mown grass wouldn't work well...... _________________ -Paklid |

Someone can get hurt walking across a grassy field and sue you. I've never thought it was worth the risk/headache to put a cache on private property, all the disclaimers included. _________________ Hmm... |

There is a WMA in Champlin near Elm Creek Park Reserve that the State is trying to sell. |

You're probably right. I remember contacting a mall management company to get permission to hide in a landscaped area out in the corner of a mall parking lot once (yes, malls are private property) and was denied not because the manager thought it would be a significant risk, but that the insurance they carry is specifically for shoppers whose primary reason for visiting is to go into the store and shop.
Though it's pretty unlikely somebody might get hurt on your property while caching, people have been known to break limbs etc. in sudden fits of clumsiness. And if someone gets physically hurt, the property owner is very likely going to get financially hurt. _________________ -Paklid |

I'd hate to be the one to get the bill for a bunch of cachers to come and rescue someone that was on a FTF mission and broke a body part, or the bill for the certain cacher who broke the certain body part... _________________ Hmm... |

Is it at least a square mile? We could pool our money and buy the land to try our 125 cache power trail and give bflentje a spot for his guillotine! _________________ Tupperware doesn't belong in the kitchen! |

That's one of the coolest ideas I've heard here yet. MNGCA owned land. |

Ok just spitballing here but who would I have called had I fell out of the tryy I climbed to get the cache this weekend in Farmington. I was 20-25 feet in the air. Don't get me wrong I had a blast finding it. And it is a cool cache.
But if we can't take responsibilty for our selfs then who will.
You are the fool that climed that tree to find a container. Then fell to a broken limb not the property owner. So lets not bring the land owner into our foolishness. It was not his or there falt.
I know that this is just my view and it would only happen in a perfect world but hey a guy can dream can't he. _________________ ---------------------------------------------------

We could make the county/state take out permits if they wanted to let wildlife use the land. _________________ Alcohol & calculus don't mix. Don't drink & deriv |

Sure, but I'd prefer to have legendary cache without the county's help.. |
