The documents to print out are pretty cool. Not sure if we have that in our links. The utopia program looks cool. Will probably download it tonight, stupid modem speeds.....

ok, I looked, you have texas's linked, but you'd have to know those tools are there. I think the documents that you can print out to put in a cache deserve their own link.

Can we sticky this thread, or put the link to geocacher-u on the main page? I'm working something right now where I can use the brochure, and I'm sure others would like quick access to something so they can show a park administrator what geocaching is all about.

Yeah, that is a nice brochure. I've been trying to find the contact I need to talk to for the local school forest (it's only 2 miles due south of where I am currently sitting), knowing this school district, I might need some help convincing. I'd like to hide my first cache there. I found out who I need to talk to, and he is related to me Smile

Though I noticed alot of school forests around the country have caches in them...

However, I would like to modify the brochure a little for me Smile

I don't have a page layout program though, anything free out there? The brochure doesn't say anything about geocaching can be educational. I know I've learned alot about the minnetonka community and history through caching. All the caches here around central wisconsin are at something historic or educational. Of the ones I found were: A historical marker virtual, one hidden at the silver dome which is a historical building, one at snyder dam which has a nice little historical plaque telling the history of the dam, a virtual multi at the highground (http://www.thehighground.attractions.neillsvilleonline.com/), and the arbotum(http://www.listeman.attractions.neillsvilleonline.com/) which is a nice place with a bunch of trees labels what type they are..

I like the logbook with the geocaching info on the reverse side you can print out at the texas site too.

Is there a set of links to geocaching/gps related software on this site?

I am trying to find, if I remember, a program called USATopo or simular, sounding title. It was a free program you could load coords in. With a menu option or click it would create a web page with links to the topo map, mapquest map, and geocaching.com page for the cache.

Found it, whoa, was I off, it;s was Utopia.

Perhaps we could add a link to rickrich's MNGCA related website at http://mngca.rkkda.com

He has a bunch of statistics, recent log entries, maps, etc, available for interested Minnesota geocachers to take a look at.

I un-stuck this thread after I finally added Rickrich's tools and geocacher-u. Do we want a tools/software section to the links page? If so please respond with your favorites and I'll break them off.

I remember discussing software at one of the more recent events. There was mention of hosting an event to show people how to use some of the various applications (EasyGPS, GPSvisualizer, GSAK, etc.) and just exchange information between them.

Only real trouble with that is getting a place with some computers (and internet) that could be used.

What about one of the TIES classrooms at their HQ on Snelling and Larpenteur. I seem to remember they offer non-profits a reduced rate to use one of their classrooms (most have 12-15 computers with each internet access). That might work. Never been in there, but I know there was talk at work about using the labs to teach AVID Newscutter editing software to news photographers. Anyone know more about their facility?
