Does that raise the difficulty or the terrain rating for the caches in that park?

This story is very interesting to me. When Norvina and I did some night caching in this park last winter we spotted, or should I say, we were spotted by, coyotes. Also, I've seen coyotes on many occasions in Rosemount.

This is interesting, only because I have started thinking what would I do if I met an animal larger then a squirrel while caching. I started thinking about this when my daughter asked me questions about wolverines, when I looked them up I decided if I ever come across one I'd just start praying. While in Itasca State park Sir_Zman and I came across a fisher, while in a car. I never would like to find one while caching. Also reports have come out of a possible bobcat attack of a camper in Itasca.

So that has me wondering what kind of animal have cachers run into while out caching. I don't mean the friendly dogs or the occasional deer but the kind that have you thinking am I in the wrong place or is it?

Raccoons sleeping in hollow logs and/or holes in trees where caches are often hidden.

A red fox sleeping in the hollow tree of Minnesota's Wooden Heart. I literally stuck my hand into the bottom of a tree without looking. Just as my hand was entering the bottom I decided to peek in and there were two glowing eyes stairing at me bright as day. I almost unloaded in my pants. Luckily Mr. (or Mrs.) Fox just sat there. I left it be and came back another time.

Deer hunting in Cass County, I was standing on a logging road. I hear something running through the woods getting closer and closer to me. Not knowing what it was I got into a crouch, deer rifle cocked. Out of the tree line bolts a giant (adult sized) timberwolf. It appears to be running towards me. I sat quietly, he runs right past me within feet looking over his shoulder as he runs by, over the road, back into the woods on the other side of the road. No trigger pull, everyone alive, some of us needing undies cleaned. Adrenaline was pumping that day.

Also, the occasional squirrel and mouse encounters are quite common. About the most dangerous animal I've encountered has been the deer tick.

notsmike, Herrwald, and I were seeking a puzzle cache in Golden Valley and about the time we were leaving, there was a commotion in the brush. I snapped this photo:

....... and we hightailed it out of there. You don't want to get in the way of some of the clever creatures that roam the woods.

I saw a coyote twice in EP while caching Edenbrook Conservation area but they don't seem like something that would hurt a person at all. Usually the most exciting / startling thing I see are huge wild turkeys.

Once reached into a hollow tree and a mouse fell out and landed on my foot.
