I know that this will probably end up in Events category but I thought it was important that it start in park relations because that is why I took on the event.
In May they asked me to do an event for their big fall event. I felt that it was an important thing for the MnGCA to do with the state parks.
The park service is very excited about how geocaching has done in the parks and now I am trying to reel some of the new cachers into the fold.
I know there is a lot of other geocaching events going on that weekend but for anyone that is going to stick near home I would love to see you come out.
I could use some help with staffing a informational table in the exhibitor booth, bringing rolls or donuts for the morning coffee and doing some temp caches.

Is there any way to get a William O'Brian Pathtag without going to the event? I'd go but I'm going to be in Chicago this weekend.
Will extras be placed in the state park cache? |

The park owns them and we only got 100. They will put them in their caches randomly after the event. If any one is interested in a trade I will see if the park is interested in that. _________________ Dinnae fash yersel (don't worry yourself) |

Wow, what a weekend! We made over 100 muggles into real geocachers. We had many great geocachers as trainers, I think some of our volunteers found out how much fun it is the teach someone how to do something you love to do. Thanks to those who stayed to help train, odellfamily,komoorion,topgear,X51hz and bus&betty
The experienced and the newbies were challenged with a great variety of temp caches. There were some real tricky hides, scary hides and some fun hides. More than one newbie found out what we all have known, meralgia has an evil mind! They learned what caching in the real world is.
Thanks meralgia, topgear, x51hz, odellfamily and bobcam for putting out the temps and 1wheelr and littecait for picking them up.
A big thanks goes to Trail Zombie for doing everything to set up the race. He did not even get to spend much time at the event but worked hard before it.
Thanks to mnsearchers for setting up and entering the temps, that was one thing I was worried about getting done in time.
Jonifer brought us tons of great rolls and donuts, Thanks
Things would have not gone so smoothly with out the odellfamily! They filled all the gaps that I could not get to or missed. They were there all day both days and nights.
They also fed everyone with their famous chili and chicken soup! Thanks guys.
My daughter T-Birdmac and wife tried to keep me from running around with my head cut off.
Thanks to the William O'Brien staff for letting us share our fun.
The one thing a geocacher can do better than find caches is talk about finding caches. That is just as fun! _________________ Dinnae fash yersel (don't worry yourself) |

Thanks again to Andy and everyone involved. I had a great time and met some new people along the way. I even met DLHcacher for the 5 minutes he was there for. I hope to see everyone on the 11th in the Rice Creek event. Take care, TopGear |
