Got to agree, I figure my time is worth something and when I look at how quick I can run macros to configure the cache set and then do the other stuff that I can I will say the software is a good value in my mind.

I have a 76CSx and have to admit that I really like it, for as far as it goes. I put the container size and decoded hint (or at least the first few letters of it) in the note section and used it. I like it, alot. I did however not like having to load to it, load to the Palm pilot, carry both, and have 1000 caches stored in it, when I can load 2000 caches in the Colorado and have the hints, description and past logs all in one place. All in all, the 76CSx is a good unit and if you don't mind carrying 2 things (palm and it) it will work. However for about the same money you can get a Colorado...................

The info was great - I started off with the Garmin Legend, and after my first weekend out, decided to spend the extra few bucks on the Vista HCX.
Long story short, I am so hooked. Even with my internet crashing, I have my ways Cool

of still getting coordinates, and just having to load them by hand.... a bit more putsy ~ but keeps me going.

If you do end up getting GSAK, which I highly recommend, you can try it free for at least 30 days, and then it just "nags" you with a timer before you can use it after the 30 day period, the macros are great. They have an iPod macro that you can import cache info into your iPod, so if you like a few tunes during your hike you can have your music and info all in one. (Hints are included in the info, a nice bonus!)

GSAK can also dissect your cache info just about any way you want. (To really utilize it they recommend getting the premium geocaching.com membership where you can download the Pocket Querries, basically batches of cache info up to 500 caches at a time that you can do by date, distance from a particular place, etc.... quite useful if you get into the sport. The way I originally did it was I figured if I found like 75 of them and still liked it I'd spring for the premium membership. 700+ caches later in 6 countries I have found it is a very worthwhile investment.
