| Is there a published GSAK script to do statewide queries? (or could some generous soul post one?) I've been wanting to move over to this approach for awhile now, as my multiple-database system is not very efficient. |

I don't understand the question. Queries are generated at gc.com, not GSAK.
You can filter your GSAK database by state. _________________ Hmm... |

You're right, the question doesn't make sense to me either now But I was trying to piece together a semi-automated procedure for doing the statewide query.
If I have this right, the process seems to be:
1) create a series of pocket queries with time brackets
2) run 5 per day untill you get the 14-15 files you need
3) load the 15 zip files into a single GSAK database
4) run filters to select sets of caches for uploading to GPS
Is that about it? Also, for step 3 - it seems like GC.COM always uses the same filename for the same query - is there a way to run a macro on the GSAK side to bring in the files?
Yes - it does seem awfully inefficient for GC to process the same requests for each user...

What I do is send my PQs to a different email account that I have with gmail that I set up to just receive PQs. You can set the different email address near the bottom of the PQ setup page for each PQ.
I then direct GSAK to grab PQs from that email address (GSAK has an option to get it directly from an email server - I believe it's the third option down on the file menu).
GSAK takes care of the downloading and importing into the database. There is an option in the email setup in GSAK to make it so that if the file name matches one that already exists that GSAK will make the new one have a unique name - make sure you check that. It's really only a worry if you try and download two versions of the same PQ.
I then just continually update my database - I don't delete anything.
I consider a cache to be "archived" and don't upload it to the GPS if I haven't received a GPX update for it in 7 days (this is a filter option).
Hopefully this makes sense - let me know if I need to clarify anything for you (or anyone else).
There are other ways to do it, this is just the way I do it. _________________ Hmm... |

| Thanks Pear Head - great tips! I didn't expect that GSAK could fetch mail off a server, its a pretty amazing program. I'll try this out. |

Are you still in need of someone to donate their state wide querys?
I don,t do the whole state so I can't help but I have seen another thread on this forum that people have set up for the whole state. _________________ Dinnae fash yersel (don't worry yourself) |

Great idea that saves a ton of time, thanks.. I wish I'd done that sooner. |

Does anyone have the PQ settings for this that they could share? My method, not using dates, failed.

You can't do it without using dates. _________________ Hmm... |

Derived using my database and GSAK + GSAK macro called "Placed PQ by date" or something to that effect:
Placed by date PQ Generation
PQ From To Count Done
01 11/5/2000 12/17/2003 490
02 12/18/2003 1/21/2005 490
03 1/22/2005 9/9/2005 490
04 9/10/2005 3/31/2006 485
05 4/1/2006 7/2/2006 463
06 7/3/2006 9/16/2006 487
07 9/17/2006 12/15/2006 486
08 12/16/2006 4/5/2007 488
09 4/6/2007 5/31/2007 485
10 6/1/2007 7/25/2007 485
11 7/26/2007 9/8/2007 485
12 9/9/2007 10/21/2007 490
13 10/22/2007 12/21/2007 487
14 12/22/2007 3/13/2008 487
15 3/14/2008 Maximum date 207
That should get you close, better than my original guess method. I do not keep archived other than ones we have found... that may skew the numbers a little bit, but play with the numbers above and tweek the dates slightly and you will be there.

I see in your spread sheet a PQ for disabled caches that you list runs everyday. How did you set that up exactly? _________________ Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. |
