Hopefully, I'm in the right part of the forum for this...as it does pertain to GPSs. I've been watching "the Lost World", the Jurassic Park 2nd movie for the umteenth time due to my son's obsession with dinosaurs. I noticed that they were carrying a Magellan GPS when they get on the island...The movie came out in 1997...so what's the deal? And yes, I know it is not based on a true story . |

According to wikipedia, selective availability typically added errors of about 32 ft. Aside from the obvious Magellan joke, this is close enough for hiking and dinosaur hunting and such. |

I think I saw claimed (by the GPS) accuracies of around 20' at best, although 30' was a little more average. I still remember where I was when I realized SA had been turned off.... _________________ Hmm...

So, what you're saying is, it takes your 3 Magellans for every 1 Garmin to find GZ for a cache? My hides aren't that great. |
