I recently saw an episode named Primacy of NUMB3RS that featured a game along these lines. Kind of neat actually, one of the "real world clues" in the story was a wall sized UPS style barcode "zoomed out" and painted on a 8 foot square section of wall.
Of course, the technogeeks in the story were killing people for the sake of their game. Lets hope the obsession falls short of that. Thank you again, Hollywood.
