Maybe I am a little dense, but I can't seem to find anything about membership in this organization. Can anyone help?

Thanks for the question! As an org, as you've probably realized, we're all very new and in the process of forming guidelines for caching activity currently. We really have no formal process of becoming a "member." Our group is based on the premise that this is a sport for all and as long as you're registered as a member of the site and enjoy geocaching, you're in! At previous meetings, we've briefly discussed membership, but we have some decisions to make on how to become a member.

The obvious question, to me anyway, is how is this orginization funded? there must be some expenses for web space, supplies, pizza & beer at meetings, etc. whos paying for this stuff?

This site and association is currently funded by voluntary donations we get at events and meetings. We are still a very new organization, so the subject of funding options and membership is still being researched at this time by the board. All of the start-up costs, talent and time expenditures have (so-far) been carried by various board members.

I don't think anyone really realizes all the time, effort and expense that goes into starting an organization like this, and keeping it up and running. We have a wonderful web-site and forum, great logo and lots of time being spent working with the parks, etc.

Thanks for the response. I do realize that there is considerable time & expense involved in organizing something like this, or I wouldn't have posed the question. I will try to make the next meeting, but I cannot promise that I'll be there as I am also busy with Boy Scouts & a youth NRA shooting course. hope to meet you all soon.

Oh good, now I'm a full fledged member, and can represent the group accordingly at the science museum!

Sorry to miss out on the event, and pre appologies for missing out on the breakfast buddies next weekend (inventory at work! yuck, waht a way to ruin memorial day weekend). I'll be looking forward to a yellow jeep TBug!
