When I first registered my geo-name I thought geocaching was a whim so I didn't put much thought into it. Well that was over 200 caches ago. So i have a few questions. 1. Can I change 2. What issues could i have? 2. Do I lose my finds. 4. What should I do to make the transition (ie, let others know).
5. Any issues I have not thought of.
Thanks for your input |

You can't change your name on gc.com, no.
What some people have done is to create a new account and then relog all of your finds under the new account name. If you do this, I highly suggest you get the date of the find correct and mention that you are logging this under a new name and give your old name. _________________ Hmm... |

There's probably no reason to change that name -- unless you really want something different. I'm familiar with your hides and have seen some of your logs, so andrewmmc is pretty recognizable to me. You're building recognition with that name, so if you change it, you'll lose a little of that recognition.
One thing about your current name is that it's pronounceable, which is a big benefit. One of our friends here was formerly known as brjzn. You can imagine the problems that caused.
At one time geocaching.com would allow you to changes names, but those days are gone. If you want to do it now, you have to create a new account as Pear Head said. Yes, you will have to relog your finds, but if you do a few a day for a couple weeks, you'll be done. But make your decision to do this now when you have 200 finds. Don't wait until you have 2000. |

Thanks Rubber toes.
Ditto on your name too, It really stands out. I will probably keep the name. I was getting ribbing from my kids that my name was not very imaginitive so I was just thinking....
Thanks |

I went through a crisis of identity a while back, too. I wanted to create a sig token, but I couldn't figure out a good way to work a token design around "darus67"
In the end I decided to keep my original name and just create an avatar and tagline that were more distinctive, and use those as a basis for my sig tokens. _________________ Mustang Dreamin' |
