Folks:
Even though I haven't been in the Twin Cities since my cache-o-rama trip there back in Sept., when I saw they had jacked with the TB stats I knew I had to come over here to see the reaction. Needless to say, when I read this thread I wasn't surprised. Here are my thoughts, FWIW:

(1) I'm in Centris' corner 110% on this. Can't understand why Jeremy didn't grandfather the existing Note=Find stats.

(2) Some people cache only for the "fun", some only for the "stats". I, and I know for a fact a lot of people here on this forum, cache for BOTH...and I, for one, make no apologies for it. I like my stats, both for Finds and also for TBs. I'm a numbers guy, I like to quantify. I also like the fact that the numbers next to my name DO lend a certain level of credibility to my logs and my opinions. Doesn't mean those opinions are necessarily "right" (my ego's not THAT large), but it DOES mean that when you see a 1000+ cache finder post a log or a forum note, maybe he's got some experience to back it up. When I see people get slammed for "only being in it for the numbers" and for CARING about said numbers, the "slammers" in those cases don't necessarily know the whole story. You can be into the numbers and STILL get tremendous pleasure out of our sport. Anyone who read the many detailed logs I wrote about folks' caches in the Twin Cities when I was there knows that's what I'm about...I know for a fact that Centris and many other "numbers folks" around here feel the same way. Just because it's about the numbers doesn't mean it's ONLY about the numbers.

I agree as well. I did send an email since I was, from day one, under the impression that using "Write Note" was a way saying I visited and saw the bug, went to the cache just to see the TB, etc. I lost 70% of the TBs I went out of my way to find. I loved searching for TBs and then finding the caches they were in. I also agree with the new rule; nothing wrong with it, takes just a few more seconds, but, why take away the finds from those of us that logged them in that way. Like Centris said, we were playing based on the rules at that time.

I'm not sure Jeremy's rule change really changes things for dear Centris. In MN, she will always be recognised for her accomplishment, which will stand with us, regardless of what Jeramy's data base say's. We know what she accomplised and how hard she worked for it. That's what really counts. Centris got her 1,000 and I'm proud of her. Jermemy's count, doesn't matter.

Couldn't have said it better myself!!

Sorry, but I doubt Jeremy will "feel your pain" - especially once he looks into the 40% ratio. Now that is a stat worth noting.......(or logging?)

Sorry, just one more thing for my soapbox. I don't know if the percent ratio really matters. I mean, I lost about 80% of my logs but I still think that means I shouldn't get mine back more than Centris. She lost about 300 bugs but only, what, 40 %. I lost only 74 but 82%. It should be everyone before the change.
